Why %damage to Crowd Controlled is prefered from Dazed damage?
Crowd controll damage rolls in 1h weapon with max +18% and Dazed +35%, generally Daze rolls in double numbers in all items.
The Close Quarters passive increase the damage for
18*40% = 7
18 + 7 = 25% that is smaller than the 35% from %Core/Close/Dazed.
So, if we speak only for damage, damage to Dazed is better, right?
Close quarters combat bonus is a multiplicative bonus that doesn’t directly add together with the affix bonus.
Let’s say you have 800% additional damage bonus across all of your gear and Paragon already. That 7% close quarters combat bonus will multiply this big number by that much:
Damage vs CC (18%): 9.18 * 1.07 = 9.8226
Damage vs Dazed (35%): 9.35
Therefore, the damage vs CC bonus is equivalent to 82% damage bonus from your gear where as damage vs Dazed is still 35%.
The close quarters combat bonus also applies to ALL enemies as long as it’s active, and damage vs CC itself applies in more scenarios than damage vs Dazed.

Actually had a brain fart with my calc above. Will edit my answer.
Those numbers should be 9.18 and 9.35 which represent having 818% total additive damage and 835% total additive damage respectively.
The damage vs CC effective comparative damage gain then calculates to 82%, like having 882% (800 + 82) additive damage in total, vs 35% of damage vs Dazed.

One additional thing to consider: the conditions to daze do not seem that difficult, but effectively it’s a 2 hit process if you are lucky. So divide the damage you have by 2, as opposed to CC to slow is usually in 1 hit.
You can see this quite clearly actually when you go to PVP and dry to Daze a player (even when they play test dummy and stand still)
