Damage resistance

I just cannot understand why i can be at over 20k armor, max on all ele resist, have over 20 life and still get oneshot in a lvl 100 sigil dungeon. Does damage resistance even work in this game? or am i just wasting build slots for more damage on useless defensive abilities?

20k life is not a lot.
Armor caps at 9230.

When your character stops progressing at level 100,and you end up fighting mobs level 150-200 thats what happens. Not even 55 k hp pool or 55% damage reduction is going to help you either.

You invested a lot into armor,so my guess you crippled yourself in other stats. You either need to farm new gear or re-enchant/temper already existing gear,if you have any existing rolls or reasonable enchant cost .

armor cap is 9230 so dont stack armor beyond that. on your paragon board make sure you grab damage reduction nodes. also certain glyphs like territorial and undaunted are very useful for the damage reduction to close enemies and damage reduction while fortified. uniques also give damage reduction, an affix that we dont get on normal legendaries anymore, so look for these stats so you can survive those hits in higher nmds

Simple because D4 Devs capped your amor and all your resists…not good method.
Playing D4 not only requires finding the best items, but also practicing dodging attacks manually… :joy: :joy: :joy:

the point is that with over max resist, I shouldnt be getting oneshot, especially when im barriered and fortified. Yes i know there are caps, and im at them and still. Like how does anyone even attempt hardcore in this game?

Armor cap give you 85% reduction.

Let’s say you get hit for 250,000 that still leaves 37,500 damage. Damage reduction kicks in after armor so even if you have 30% DR that still leaves 26,250 damage.

just to give you an example of my barb this season.

these arent exact numbers because i dont have the game open.

9500armor
70% resist all resists
60k hp
35% dr to bleeding
20% dr all
20% dr to close
18% dr while fortified
8% dr from distant
12% dr while berserking
etc.

this is how you build for survival

Barbs can get even higher than that, but not all the classes can hit that.

yeah i have seen the videos of 400k hp barbs. i just grab paragon with max life and have life on armor. i dont stack it like some builds

they stack that one skill via tempering that increases hp as a % and use doombringer

Yea, they kinda changed the armor system and unless you watched the stream or read the patch notes you’d have no idea. Most Int classes only need one armor roll on gear.

It’s all raw HP and DR / Less Damage Taken.
NM Dungeon 100 is a joke now.

My Ball Sorc is 35k HP 21k consistent Barrier, 40% Less taken, 15% vs Burning, 30% flat, 25% vs Close, 40% vs Elites and some other jazz. I dunno if it’s a good parse or not but I pushed to 60 Pit without any masterworking and before Harlequin / Starless Skies. Didn’t know shadow mechanics either.

Been stuck in Masterwork hell trying to double roll a better temper weapon past day or so.
