My sorc has a Harlequin Crest (20% damage reduction) and a Tyreals Might (which has master worked to a 15.5% damage reduction). I have gone through my skills, passives, paragons etc and cannot figure out any reason why the game is only calculating my reduction at 32.4%.
0,2+(1-0,2)*0,155=0,324
Basically every next DR source applies to what’s left from after all the previous DRs.
So let’s say if you have 40% DR, you are left with 60% damage received. And your second DR is 20%. That 20% applies to 60% and you are left with 48% dmg received.
Damage Reduction (as is Dodge and Cooldown Reduction) isn’t additive.
It’s multiplicative. You’d think that’s good because we’re all chasing multiplicative damage multipliers, but here’s what isn’t obvious from tooltip.
Multiplicative damage multiplier is 25%. That’s not .25, that’s 1.25. So that means if you have 1000 damage and Conceited Aspect (25%x multiplier) you get 1,250 damage.
But for DR, 25% isn’t 1.25, it’s .25.
So if your DR is Shako with 20% DR, that starts with 20% DR. Then add Tyrael’s Might. Tyrael’s is 15% DR, it’s not 20 + 15 = 35, it’s
Shako: 0 + (100*.20) = 20
Tyrael: 20 + (80*.15) = 32
You get 80 by subtracting 20 from 100, of course. All succeeding DR is multiplicative with the remaining damage you take after the first DR is applied.
That’s why you only have 32% DR. Blizzard did this because they don’t want people hitting 100% CDR, 100% Dodge and 100% DR.
Not all DR appear on your character stat, but DR from Shakro works. Trust me. The character stat info is very buggy to be honest.
The Shako DR appears in his character sheet. What are you on about. I gave the math for it. Learn the game.
I didnt say DR from shakro not appear on character sheet, I said not all DR will appear there. Scroll up read and learn the game.
There is nothing buggy about the DR calculation on the character sheet. It just looks buggy to you because you have no clue how to calculate it.
You haven’t contributed anything to this discussion other than showing you have no clue how to compute DR, and yet you’re still putting on airs.
Again, learn the game.
