Damage application bug with Incinerate

There seems to be an issue with Incinerate and how or ‘when’ the damage is applied.
In the past seasons I was able to swipe the screen once with my controller and every mob died.

But this season it feels bugged and the enemies are not getting damage as if the beam wouldn’t hit all of them when I swipe over them.
I used to be able to do one spin with the controller and everything around me died, it was great fun, but now when I cast the beam and swipe over them several times no damage is applied at all It feels as if I have to target the beam very precisely onto them and linger there for a moment until the damage moment of the channel arrives and if I miss that moment there’s no damage.
It’s as if it applies damage in a fixed interval and if I miss the interval and my beam is no longer on the target there won’t be damage.
