Hi,

i play a rogue but i guess it really depends on your build. for instance, i play twisting blades/poison trap set up. i want to be up close but also want to depend on crits. weirdly because daggers give increase damage to close enemies. sure there are builds that recommend daggers over swords or if trying to do something different, maybe you want to play with daggers for the higher damage to close enemies over critting. maybe you want to play a hybrid sword and dagger. whatever best fits your build and what you would think be more beneficial.
Dagger has its uses. With combo point builds and builds which want to keep up momentum quickly. Some builds you just want to proc 3 stacks of momentum then go back to utilizing traps/range. In which case Daggers might be more useful. But otherwise Crit Dmg is straight up better than Close damage.
90% of the time its - sword > dagger
better implicit → crit dmg
weapon mastery passiv → 9% multiplicative dmg across the board that works ALL THE TIME on swords compared to dmg vs healthy enemies which is only active 20% of the time - its a nobrainer
the only time where using daggers (asside from uniques) is viable, is the early game where u aint have much crit chance to take advantage of the crit dmg from swords or dont have enough skill points to take the weapon mastery passive…
end of story.
Well I playing Flurry build and using Condemnation which is a must for a build.
why is that a must? I also use flurry but I don’t use condemnation, it is kinda of a waste to be honest.
Yea that’s a silly statement, nothing on Condemnation and its aspect makes up for losing almost 60% crit damage and 35% vulnerable damage, among other things
Actually Condemnations unique ability does more damage with three combo points than a perfectly rolled sword. It is always BIS for any build using combo points.
Poison build don’t need crit damage, so that is the end of story.
I sincerely hope people aren’t getting their info from these forums
It has a multiplier on its unique ability. But the +dmg with core skill is a good additive because most rogue builds do not have +dmg to core skill on their builds. So overall the +core skill innate affix and the unique ability which has a multiplier ends up doing more dmg than a sword with good vulnerable/crit dmg.
Sword is better math in every way except
Each dagger is +250% style
Y’all are crazy. If you’re a melee rogue, it’s daggers all the way. 30% close damage is on all the time, not just when it crits.
Ranged rogue does swords.
flurry without condemnation is crap for damage
This. Crits are a bonus. The poison rot from trap + imbue obliterates anything i touch. Running WT4 40s currently.
Only if you’re using combo points, yes?
I’m a bit underwhelmed with Condemnation. It was still a slight upgrade for me, but I’m pretty sure a perfectly rolled generic would be better. The thing is, with all your attack speed bonuses up, and with the combo point UI the way it is, there’s no way to actually utilise the procs. By the time you’ve acknowledged that a proc has happened, you’ve already hit the target again and therefore would have been at max combo points anyway.
I’d love them to rework it without the RNG. Something like, using a Basic while at 1 combo point always gives +2 points. In other words, it’d shorten your rotation from 3xBasic → Core to 2xBasic → Core. That would make it waaaay better, like, easily BiS for combo points.
Condemnation is weird in that it seems on paper it seems I would be better going dual swords but in the game I always go back to it. If you roll one with close to 40% core skills damage it is tough to beat.
I actually like the aesthetic of dual swords and try to roll that.
Essentially it all comes down to this
Hope this can clear it up.
