D3 for all its overabundance of color, is just outright fun. the power fantasy is there and there are so many options in how to play.
where as D4 is there to satisfy the D2 nutjobs who apparently hate fun or only have fun once a month when they get a bit of progression after grinding for that month.
When I first WW’d with a D4 barb, it felt so… unimpactful. The animation was ok, but it just felt so… wetnoodley. And I’m not talking about the damage even, just the feel.
not every build needs to have dark souls level of depth. some people play video games to relax and chill and not sweat and need precision reflexes in order to succeed.
Unfortunately not. In D3 I played whirlwind barb a ton and in D4 I solely played WW barb all the way to 100 before NM dungeons were buffed. D4 WW doesn’t get any better unfortunately. Even when you have all the fury reduction / fury gen stuff, and 200% movement speed, it’s incredibly slow and fury starved compared to D3.
I will say that I think the animation and sounds for WW are improved in D4, but who cares when the build is a lot less fun to play.
D4 combat is not supposed to be braindead trash (even if that can be fun sometimes).
For you to play WW barb with endless fury hold down 1 button, cast shouts without stopping the spin even for a second, with speed cap 150% (from no other skills, just passive) AND FOR THAT BE A VIABLE BUILD everything needs to hit you like a wet noodle and every barb spec would add WW in their build even if they have other skills and they just use WW occasionally.
It’s the same reason we can’t have 8 elite pack density (and that’s a good thing).
It’s also why they won’t give up the “we want you to manage resource”.
They can probably tune it and/or add more aspects that are 100% must have for WW to work that force you to trade more defense or something (which might mean you can’t do tier 100 on a WW…like apparently ppl can’t now/anymore but still have it work till tier 75 or something - I do have one friend that’s 82 and is still fine with WW but I never saw it)…and they should…but without those I’m not sure how fix this without ruining the need for any…planning…or by making every other build instantly destroy (which ruins the fun for those or removes all challenge).
I actually though about this for the last 2-3…cuz I thought I might be “gatekeeping fun” but I just can’t get around the part where spin-to-win non-stop tier 100 with 1 attack would just ruin most other builds (and yes there are things that need nerfing for the same reason, probably, like bonespear necro although I’m not sure).
Its funny how you come to self realization for a brief moment in your post, than you go back to being a smoothbrain. You play video games to not have fun?
I don’t even play ww, if they want to hold one button and spin forever who cares.
Doesn’t it seem a little too easy? If it doesn’t yet, it will once you get the BK Swords and Wastes Set.
Don’t get me wrong. I loved WW in D3. But it was the definition of a one click build basically. They almost made it engaging when they combined it with Rend, but then they made Rend basically auto apply. Just so easy.
What part did you not understand. It would ruin the balance for anyone that doesn’t.
I ASKED myself that for about the last 15h and decided I was right the first time…with some exceptions that need implementing.
They can have their fun…but not be viable endgame.
You can (probably) get infinite fury for WW with 2 aspects and all passives and all paragon glyph and legendary powers (there are 2 really).
So just because we know a perfectly geared sorc going for stagger can chill stack kill Lilith in 2 minutes then we should make the whole game too easy so barbs can have a 1 button build the ignores positioning and resource management?
(Or the bone spear necro 40s kill.)
because they are trying to appease the nutjob D2 players who complain about too much loot, too much exp, not enough death penalty, and that its too easy to gear out a character.
