A lot of meaning in behind words were inflated or got a whole different meaning, like the word woke. It has been thrown around so much it lost it’s original meaning.
It’s simple. Casual = play for less than an hour a day. Hardcore = play for more than an hour a day.
Well but originaly that is not the meaning behing a casual player(be it games or sports). The term is originaly the opposit of professional. That doesn’t neccesseraly mean they spend less time with it, they just don’t take it to a serious level of competition.
REALLY? Wow… Then I must be one of the most Hardcordiest hardcore handler in a 50 mile radius …
Yesterday I logged to see if I have the patience to get paragon 300 on my almost 296 character. Turns out I don’t. I was able to do only 3 pits.
I’m not gonna claim that PoE 2 is so well made etc. but in my opinion D4 is unfortunately way too casual. I still don’t have nearly the same time as D4 in PoE 2. However it looks like a better prospect for me.
And you know, that’s perfectly fine.
Do what you want, play what you want.
I don’t see the issue here. (or there isn’t any issue)?
I suppose as long as there are suitable alternatives to scratch the itch, we don’t have a problem.
Nah man! My advice (please don’t hate me, I mean no harm)…
Play other games… then when you have the urge to play D 4, just play for a little bit then quit (maybe like 20 minutes)!
Come back when your urge meter reaches a point to then play D 4, then play something else.
last time I gave advice, I ticked the guy off
My hype level was at 10 before the recent Campfire Chat. Now it’s back to 0.
You never know… You may actually enjoy it if you play it.
My hype level hasn’t changed for it.
It’s hard to be hyped when even the devs are bored.
I play D4 again after a while, to check some others classes, and I got a blast. Last one was playing a Druid, that werewolf is really fun to play, and very fast with his dash. Not to mention werewolf companions aspect and final werewolf form armor
I played a barb too, was fun too, especially with leaps and earthquakes, and a rogue too, which was easy with dancing knives. So S7 will give us even more builds and aspects, that’s good. I think we could have fun with S7 for a while, if it’s not as bugged as S6 at start… those bugs, that was really a pain and probably the cause of departures.
This. Casual = non-competitive, plain and simple. Nothing to do with hours played and the such. D4 launched with minimal competition, which solely stemmed from its pvp. The Gauntlet was supposed to be a competitive mode but it was absolute garbage. The only competitive aspect of D4 is the Pit, and pvp. And, even those don’t have leaderboards.
All the criticism some of us keep throwing at the game such as it being shallow, boring, no endgame, etc. has little to do with it being casual or not. You could argue too much depth can be a barrier of entry but even then D4 is too shallow.
Straight up this. I am a bigger fan of D4 because of POE2’s unforgiving nature. I feel punished for experimenting on the passive tree and crafting is a straight up gamble that can destroy a really good item. A poor build is a poor experience, and the power spike is weird af (I went from lighting sparks on fire to shooting like 150 fireballs at a time from spending 4 skill gems). Fix this stuff and destroy the experience for the player base it was designed for.
Me personally, i don’t see a lot of value in opening up every skill / passive for every class. Just make the classes fun to play and a different experience from each other. But a true RPG fan that wants to spend a lot of time on one game is going to LOVE that.
NGL tho… D4 needs to take notes on those boss fights. D4 bosses are a gear check, and i can’t say there isn’t a bit of that aspect on POE2, 80-90% of loss to a boss is a learning experience.
I’d say that about all fights. Your average POE “Elite” is a more interesting encounter than most D4 bosses. The combat in D4 has really gone downhill since launch, imo.
So far with my experience sounds a little different than yours. Most of the time i run into an elite, I’m surrounded by mobs and I fire and dip backwards until its dead. More time consuming than interesting. Unless we’re talking about those mini bosses that won’t go too far away from their home… those ones are cool.
The combat in D4 on launch was pretty great. Lots of interesting mobs with interesting and varied attack patterns. Anyone remember red ghosts and skeleton ballistas?
Yep, D4 had plenty of issues at launch. But combat was much better than now.
Same was the case in D3 as well.
And now combat is just press 1 button, vaporize several screens of mobs
.
Don’t say that out loud! There’s casual players among us…
