Will this be a game that dies off with only a handful of players, playing?
What will the streamers do?
The game seems to be going no where. No reason to play a character after you’ve ground them to 100. Only wait until another season to start all over for 3 months.
What is the end result? 3 years of buying seasons and hoping for a finished product. By the time of a finished product we will be starting on a new unfinished product.
How long to de we expect to play Diablo 4 and for those of us buying everything, are we getting our moneys worth or running a GoFund me account for Blizzard?
Yes. Good keep playing it until you don’t want to anymore then move on.
No. Stop playing it.
It’s really that simple. Any other questions are meaningless at this stage in the game. We know the game will receive more content in the future, whether or not you’re willing to wait is up to you. Now it shouldn’t be this way, but this is our reality right now.
Well… Most arpgs offer actual league content with every reset, new builds, rebalanced skills, new ways of customization, new end game content. D4 is a game you can play for a week every 6 months or so. The sooner you accept the fact this game will never be good, the more fun you’ll have playing it twice a year.
Obviously the game isn’t good but for the next few years they’re committed to it. Its future will depend on how they develop it further seasonally and with each expansion. Obviously so far they have demonstrated a lack of vision, but they have resources and can make money. It really just depends on what they manage to do with it.
Depends on what the dev team’s long term plans are. If it’s just churning out seasonal content every three months and a yearly expansion, it will go a few more years at least. Numbers will eventually drop to the point the game gets thrown into maintenance mode.
If they have actual fixes and long term endgame plans in the works, it could set the game up for a long life span like D2.
If I had a dime for every player who thought D4 would be one of those forever games that they could play continuously until they go to their grave but are disappointed when they find out they were never promised that…
I give them the $3/season for the battle pass, mainly because someone gifted me 2700 plat and there’s little else to do with it. 100 plat/month isn’t bad.
it’s gonna ride a long time imo. not because i think it’s good but because of the nature of arpgs. no arpgs keep the people hyped for a whole season and the gamers always hop from a game to another one starting a fresh season/cycle/league.
the only way this dies completely is if there suddenly is enough arpgs to never have to use the “waiting room” that d4 is.
d4/le/poe , all 3 months leagues/cycles/seasons… each gets about 1month max of high activity. so far so good.
bring in another good arpg and d4 might actually be in trouble. but nothing on the horizon just yet.
(we dont even know if LE will stick at all. maybe it’s gonna fail terribly ala Wolcen)
Starting to think in addition to content regurgitators, we will soon have content mediums, for all the people out there constantly obsessed about whether a game is “dying” or not.
4-5 years is a good development time if they have a game director with a clear vision at the helm. Hideo Kojima already knew what to do with Death Stranding 2 even before he finished Death Stranding 1 (this is even with a complete story rewrote of DS2).
He now has 2 games in the plan even before DS2 is released.
