D4 Vendors : What's the point?

They only sell yellows… what for ?

At the Den, Fayira sells only

  • 750 items
  • Aspect caches which contain only 750 items.

Useless…

Would you like something else? Like selling ancestrals? Seems good right? No, you don´t want to run around map every resset to check vendors if they have something valuable.

Yes? Why would a source of ancestral drop not be wanted? Checking a vender is faster then spamming 6 wave IH, of course this would be good lol.

It was your question. It may not have been the question you intended to ask but since we can’t read your mind we can only answer the question you wrote down. Which was what’s the point of vendors? To sell your junk.

Mercenaries gives us currency.

Cashes for mats if i feel like traveling over there. They also occasionally have GAs but like most GAs, there never anything good. So we keep looking.

Porting from town to town or even running from vendor to vendor every resset to check his 5 items… All over again. Yep that looks like fun to :smiley: amazing game loop, people would love that.

You see a problem (low drop rates) so everything what give you more seems like good change but it is not.

Like I said you need to think ahead a bit.

I get ancestrals a lot from them. I mostly buy the caches as they drop about 5 items each. It’s really been a good source of upgrades aspects for me. I’ve upgraded about 4 aspects to max level from items I get from the mercenaries.

They also drop masterworking caches, boss mat caches, a cache that can drop runes, salvage materials caches.

Far from useless I’d say.

No, i do not. The devs do. I, and everyone else playing this game, would use this to solve a problem that shouldn’t exist in the first place, yes. In the context of the current state of the game, this would be good.

You want to discuss good design in a vaccuum, thats a different subject matter. This entire end game cycle could be described as ‘running around checking the vendor’ but we pay in boss mats and layered rng.

I wanna know the point of Whisper Caches now. They don’t drop Ancestrals. Even the Greater Cache doesn’t.

They definitely do. I got a 2ga polearm last night, not that I needed it. But they also drop runes, boss mats, crafting mats and hordes sigils.

If you think that adding chore (running simulator to vendors, watching their ressets) mechanic is solving anything you would suit in D4 team after all.

If you feel droprates are low, advcote for increasing it, that is ok.

It is actually you who is thinking here in vacuum. Your PoV is “more loot=better” and not thinking about consequences.

Yes the game is a chore list. No, chore lists are not good. Agreed. Intrinsic game value is in the combat system.

In this game, however, smaller chore better then long rng chore.

You can barter for Anc. Legendaries at the Den. Refresh often.

Don´t try to run away from original topic.

Topic is if making running between vendors should be relevant. It should not.

If we would settle on endgame items should be more accessible (I don´t want to say yes or no, bcs I don´t play VoH, so I am lacking information) solution is to increase droprates in “fun” content, tha means killing mobs.

It is irrelevant what you or I think about quality of any “mob killing content” these are main part of aRPG. Not running from 1 npc to another.
