"Hello, all poor people who are suffering from an extremely slow download of Diablo IV. I had a problem where, even though I have around 500 Mbps bandwidth download speed, my download speed would range from a maximum of 50 kb/s to 4 mb/s, randomly jumping between those numbers.
A solution that at least helped me a little bit was to go to the settings in Battle.net, navigate to “downloads,” and check “Limit download bandwidth.” Additionally, I checked “Latest updates” and “Pre-release content” and set those limits to 999999999.
Right afterwards, my download speed jumped to 60 mb/s but occasionally fluctuated down to around 6-10 mb/s. It’s not perfect, but definitely an improvement…
It’s sad that with a price tag of 69.99, I have to deal with such hardship.
(also as a side note, this is a copy and paste from June, and is locked by Blizz. Even though they never fixed it. It’s kind of crazy this company can’t fix such a simple problem. GG.)
The updater is doing a lot of disk IO operations, that’s why it looks so slow early on. After it takes care of that, the speed will jump up. Mine was doing the 100KB/s thing and then shot right to 25MB/s.
I no longer bother with the 9’s thing. It literally didn’t matter. The only reason it seems to work is because you interrupt the download to make the change. You can accomplish the same result simply pausing and restarting the download.
These days, I just shut things down that I don’t need running, and let the download do its thing and do something else, a lot simpler.
