I’ve been a long time Diablo fan, D2 was my first PC Game back in 2008 so I’ve grown up with Diablo and I have played every single Diablo game. Diablo 4 had a lot of potential but there are some serious drawbacks aside from the micro transactions that need to be talked about.
First Pros:
-Skill tree: I love hybridization and being able to fully customize your skills, it was well done.
-Character customization: this was a huge step forward for Diablo and I hope they keep this change in games to come.
-Open World: Being able to travel through the acts freely is a nice change of pace, I enjoy not having to sit through a thousand loading screens a day.
-Clans: Establishing communities within Diablo was a good step in the right direction, the series has a very strong fan base and I feel this is a good way to keep people involved in the game.
Cons:
Gamepad: not enough hotkeys, even D2R gives me more abilities to use.
Story: I don’t feel like the story was very easy to follow, it’s very easy to get sidetracked so I didn’t find it very immersive.
-No Runewords- Runewords are literally 90% of the grind in D2 and it’s what made the fans so crazy about Diablo. The fact that it hadn’t been added back to any other game is appalling.
-Legendaries: there is a considerably small pool of legendary drops in this game compared to the other Diablo’s, it takes away from character development.
-It’s a pasted version of Diablo Immortal:
I played Diablo Immortal on release and thought it was fun, but when I played Diablo 4 in early access and I saw the gameplay, the abilities, the micro transactions, the graphics, the map, the way you interact with other players. It’s the same game in a different box. I was extremely disappointed, and after years of anticipation for D4 I had my hopes crushed.
It’s time to go back to your roots Blizzard, stop killing games to make more money. Start giving the players what they want.
If Warcraft 3 and Overwatch 2 weren’t a good enough wake up call, I hope D4 is and you stop butchering our favorite games. Stop buying out other companies to ruin their reputation AKA Call of Duty has become absolutely horrible. But that’s for another post I suppose.
