I tried many things, like lowering FPS to 60, lowering texture quality, etc…
But what all of a sudden seems to have fixed my issues (I mean no crash since then, fingers still crossed) : just disabled NVidia Overlay…it was on by default for some reason (mainly because I did a “default install”) and it seems I have no issue since then.
So I revert back to full FPS and texture, still no crash so far, for several hours.

DDR5 64 GB 7200 MHz
RTX 4090

Everything is set to ultra…and no more crash so far. Maybe just lucky.
Might also be some other overlay (overwolf, discord, etc). Should start with those things because it seems obvious issues are graphics related but maybe not what we expected, not the first game that would have overlay issues.
My thoughts exactly. They know about it, I mean look at all the threads and all the replies on the forum and on Reddit.
They know, and they’ll fix it but it won’t be acknowledged it will just be better one day. This is my last Blizz game I’m so annoyed.

Screw blizzard and shame on us for thinking blizzard is quality anymore.
I too am extremely frustrated about this whole situation. It isn’t any fun to not be able to sit down for a proper gaming session and not know if it will crash after 5 minutes or 2hrs.
It makes it impossible to play any HC character, as it is right now. One crash at the wrong time is all it takes in HC.
I won’t go to the length of saying that Diablo IV is my last Blizzard game but I am very disappointed in how the game is running and how they are handling it.
I am also quite fed up with the finger-pointing that these crashes are happening due to a fault in the user’s system. While I do think that some of the instances of crashing can probably be explained by users having too weak PSU for their equipment or other faulty hardware, I highly doubt it is the majority of the reports.

I am having this issue as well, since launch. It’s extremely frustrating.
A lot of folks have done fresh installs - is onedrive syncing your documents folder? I’m wondering if it’s some kind of issue with it trying to change and read localprefs.txt so rapidly that onedrive is still touching it and they just both deadlock. For folks having this issue, is your localprefs.txt in your onedrive - OneDrive\Documents\Diablo IV ?
I’m wondering if that’s related.
I went to medium and it pretty much fixed my constant crashing Fenris
and now issue: 8411ABA7-2D72-4B27-90AD-D5B886354361
and issue 0265272C-7E47-4DAC-9CF0-BF2EF1094C7A
please help me
I went to low everything and even checked the low FX button. Disabled cross play. Nothing to fix but blizzard to fix their servers.
I’m having this same issue with my Radeon RX 5700 XT. I did not have this issue during beta, server slam, or the first week of play. It only started happening since around 10 June. I fixed it by reducing the quality preset to medium and resolution from 100 to 80%. I’m just curious why I had no issues until the last 7-10 days.
Same here.
I can play normally on my 1060 video card, but on the 3060 ti video card it restarts the computer in the first few minutes of the game.

any of you guys using RTX noise removal program for microphone?. I disabled that program and never had the crash issue ever again.
@sennzjii’s solution worked for me and I tried all of the solutions that make little sense that people post.
The fix for me
Globally locking the PC’s Max FPS in the NVIDIA Control Panel to 50. Then find Diablo IV retail and set its FPS cap to follow Global settings.
I think it is an issue with Diablo 4 and Nvidia drivers the crash persists on all versions from 525 to 535.
Why 50 specifically?
Are you also locking the FPS to 50 in the in-game settings?
I did a fresh install of my Windows 10 the other day.
Yes. The localprefs.txt is in the OneDrive folder–but I turned off OneDrive after doing the fresh install, so it shouldn’t be interfering with anything.
That is the lower end of my monitor refresh rate. I am sure other values will work to a point.

OK. Thanks for clarifying!
Are you also locking it in the settings in-game?
I too have stop the crashing by playing in Windowed mode, and resizing that window to like 1920x1080 in my 3440x1440 monitor. I then hit the preset to low then started to increase each settings higher. So far I’ve been able to have it at high texture, high shaders, and anti aliasing to high, I left everything else on low.
Again, please try windowed mode and resize the window smaller with low preset then go up from there.

I’m crashing so fast after loading into a town that I literally don’t have time to open the map and TP somewhere else.

My PC is very strong. I have a gaming laptop from 2 years ago and even though its performance isn’t that great in terms of frames, etc, it is stable – it does not crash at all, ever, with Diablo 4.
Bumping thread, Same issue. Blizzard needs to get back to us on this!
