D4 partner Slaydra makes a really good point about heavy nerfing and why it is bad

In one of most recent video published by Slaydra (D4 Partner) - he said that S9 heavy nerf really does not help anyone. It actually make things worse. He explained like following,

When you nerf the top tier build, you also impact downstream the not to top tier builds and all builds negatively. And when you don’t assert enough buffs in the right place to compensate… Not ONLY does top tier build gets hammered down, all the lower tier build gets hammered down further with it.

What does that translate to ?

Example 1.

You have two players , Player A and player B

Player A is playing a top tier build and blasting everything down with player B playing a random not so top tier build, trying to catch up. Player B feels kind of bad that they are so lacking behind.

Ok, Blizzard comes in. OH LOOK player A doing too much dmg and having too much fun ! let us nerf player A into the ground. Consequently, due to the heavy nerf player A got, player B build is now EVEN WORSE than before.

So instead of having Player A happy, player B unhappy. Now you got yourself into Player A and B both unhappy.

What they should have done is NOT touch player A build, and instead, buff player B

Now, you got player A and B BOTH happy !

Blizzard, this ain’t rock science…

While you still got time…

Before S9 launch, do something about the nerf, and buff more.

Thanks…

Dev seem not interacting with PTR anymore. The first, the one, and the last “Known issues” thread is made on 27th May. That’s all.

I do think they are still taking in feedback though. How much I am not sure. But, all the D4 partners will be feeding their opinions into the devs directly, as they all have their channels.

Let us hope for the best that blizzard come to realize what they are doing to this game, history is about to rewritten from S0 and S1…

Salvage it while you still can…

i watched his video too. as usual, bullseye, he just spot on the pain point.

too bad that after all seasons, his comment goes to deaf ears.

devs prefers listen to those playing 30 hours a day with RMT youtubers to nerf things.

Yea , Slaydra does pretty good videos and I often share most of his view points and I think he really does speak for me for the most part.

He is still a D4 official partner, and he can field his feedback directly to the developers…

I am hopeful.

Exactly this. Been there, done that.

They do seem more interested in making their promo videos than in actual content for the game, so who knows. Maybe this streamer guy can speak a language they will understand. I have never had any use for streamers, but if he can get some improvements made, I’ll gladly like and subscribe.

Raxxanterax did a live stream a few weeks ago, maybe it’s been months now I don’t recall, where he mentioned that Blizzard is aware of the (lack) of difficulty and how this was going to change (i.e. game is going to get harder).

It is coming because there are people like Raxx who don’t find any challenge in the game. He isn’t alone, either. Just like many of you are not alone in finding the extra challenge tedious, annoying, build destroying, etc.

I have watched most of Raxx video. Actually, if you been following him and watching his videos - Raxx is actually a blaster.

He want the game to be fast, and he dislike anything that slows him down on purpose.

You want to know why he is disappointed ?

Is because he doesn’t think D4 has a solid base of end game that keep grinder and blasters playing …realistically…

I get the sense that the devs really don’t care at all. Maybe they do care, but it seems like they have abandoned the game.

It feels like d4 is in maintenance mode while they work on the expansion. Maybe expansion 2 won’t suck but I’m not holding my breath.

It won’t, but do expect Spiritborn 2.0 type of OPness in whatever new class is going to be. Despite the fact that blizzard acknowledging that it was way too OP.

You know, gotta sell copies…

New class, will be extremely OP

I hope it’s good enough to make me want to play again. But I have other games and other hobbies so whatever.

once you see how awesome the new class is going to be and dominate the game maybe pit 150 in 3 minutes I am almost certain you will throw your $$$ at blizzard and buy that expansion.

A class won’t cut it for me I’m afraid. I will need a decent endgame loop. New chase items, improved progression systems.

The new class will almost definitely be a holy sword & board and that’s not really my thing. I’ll try it sure but it’s not a selling point for me.

wait to prove me wrong but mark what I say here…

There are only so much things you can add in Diablo universe and has yet to show it is face in D4…

Set items is coming for expansion, if not similar to it , maybe a new layer of items is going to come to expand on the powers you can hunt for.

I suspect that you’re correct there.

I feel like I am to be honest…

There is a reason why blizzard is holding back on adding things to this expansion. Because, they gotta save it to add it next expansion and so on so forth.

I really don’t think blizzard can go too much out of the box here… and if you just look at what D3 already have currently… And that is not IN D4 yet…

I mean yet…

Of course, blizzard will put it’s own spin on it for D4, it won’t be a direct copy/paste. But the inspirations are already there…

They can nerf things to hell and back and the game will not be challenging. It doesn’t mean you will always be successful, just as you can’t do a 150 at the moment, but you’re never challenged. The gameplay is irrelevant and the builds are based on filling in the requisite checkboxes.

You can test this for yourself right now. Go attempt a Pit 20 tiers above you. You and the monsters will fight to a draw until the Pit timer runs out. There’s no “challenge” because you can’t do anything about it.

All these nerfs in S8 and S9 do is crunch some stats, lower your maximum Pit/Torment level and slow down the rate of progression. They don’t change gameplay and they don’t add challenge.

The meta builds are too strong. But nerfing pretty much all builds isn’t good either. If a man has 1 arm you don’t take away his other arm. This is how non meta players are being treated. As no arms people. Meta players get to have at least 1 arm. They get to keep an arm.

Blizzard needs to put REAL effort into balancing. Not the lazy good for nothing lack of balancing they haven’t been doing. Like a kid that refuses to clean his room. A bunch of lazy good for nothings. “Blizzard clean up your room!” Ok mom. picks up 1 toy or 1 food wrapper and goes back to laying in bed playing Fartstation 5

Nerfing busted things is more than fine. But do some REAL CLASS BALANCING YOU LAZY GOOD FOR NOTHINGS!!! DO IT!!! CLEAN YOUR ROOM!!!

Player a shouldn’t be unhappy

Doing trillions or billions is incorrect and a build shouldnt be that powerful because it makes the bulk of t4 content trivial

The question is do we get a trailer for it on friday at SGF? I’m wondering if its too early but then we don’t know exactly when it’ll release next year. Hell it’ll probably be shown off at blizzcon in September 2026 with a release very late in the year. If we get a trailer on friday then I’d assume it’ll be maybe January or February 2026
