I have a pretty decent pc 2080 ti and a i9-9900k the game still was very very hot when playing even on low graphics and capped at 60 fps. did anyone else have this issue? did blizzard say anything about it being fixed on game launch?
What’s your system temps look like with a benchmark like 3Dmark’s Timespy?
i ran a whole day with hwinfo on sensors-only mode and nothing got red. some temps were a bit higher than i would like but nothing hitting redlines.
ill do it again on launch see if its better or worse or the same.
*also the usual boring stuff you probably already checked… clean filters and everything from dust, reseat cpu cooler with new paste, make sure airflow makes sense and every fan works. the usual.
*my m.2 got a bit hotter than it usually does while gaming. i might get one of them heatsinks for it just for good measure.
Overheating is something not working correctly on your end.
Check your fan curve on your gpu as well as your cpu.
Make sure voltages are correct from the power supply.
Make sure all your fans and cpu pump if you have one are functioning correctly and are pointing the right way.
Clear dust from the pc.
Other than that and checking event viewer there isn’t much else to do.
But it wasn’t d4 that caused the overheating it’s poor circulation/obstruction/malfunction of hardware
nVidia has new drivers out that have an option to limit max framerates (probably in response to complaints of "Diablo smoked my gfx card!!). It also has the option (as previously to set the max frames for background apps, which people should use, esp if you multitask).
Runs fine with literally any other game, but i do know maybe its not getting “overheated” but any time my temps go above 60c my corsair pc flashes its LED lights red and idk why and cant fix it.
the game should have the option for uncapped frames so we can set it in the driver without having 2 different framecaps. locking it both in the game and in the driver doesnt sound very good/optimal. 2 sources of input delay instead of one.
So buy some fans?
Noctua-NF-S12B-redux-1200-PWM-Performance $14
It’s not like decent fans are overly expensive depending on which size you need.
There was some mention in tech support, which PezRadar also confirmed, about these (or something similar) not working with D4. Hope it’s resolved by 6/1.
The game does have a uncapped option at least in server slam it did.
well not for me. the slider gave the choices between 15 and 400. no unlimited
usually they make it so 0 = unlimited but in this one the lowest it would allow is 15 heh
did they add a checkbox to turn cap off completely? i missed it if they did.
As long as your temps are not hitting 83c plus you should be fine. But that’s your call. Recently cards have been having major faults on the manufactures end in cooling so personally I wouldn’t chance it.
Your best bet is to run a hardware monitor. My two computers have a 4080 in it and my second one has a 3070ti in it.
4080 temps don’t go above 58c hot spot temp of 70c while playing d4
The 3070ti however was hitting 78c with a hotspot of 87c
I wish I could assist you further man. I’m sorry
I could have swore there was a box for it I could be 100% wrong. I know I saw it at one point but I know there was also a patch that went out because the fps limiter in game wasn’t actually limiting it.
Nah no issues and a similar system, I have played since the closed beta in december.
Yeh but manufacturers make the controlling software different and use different components.
Look at 3080ti from gigabyte, there was an issue with those frying but not all 3080tis, just ones from gigabyte.
So it all depends on manufacturer and build quality of the part
Brands I stay away from are gigabyte, zotac, and evga for gpus anyway
Zotac and gigabyte have awful customer service, evga is at least accommodating
I’m running a 5 year old Asus Strix with a core i7 and an Nvidia 1050 with 4gigs of dedicated ram and 16 gigs of onboard ram. Had no issues what so ever on the closed beta, the open betas, or the server slam. It definitely sounds like a problem on your end, I’m sorry to say.
13900k OC to 5.8 all core on air, 4090. 2k 240hz monitors.
Doesn’t even get warm running D4. But I have really good airflow in my case.
My wifes PC is same stats, but acryllic hardline. Her rig sits at 28-32C depending on ambient playing D4 for 12 hours straight.
Those have different controllers and components than modern hardware.
4090 cooler is over spec for the card itself. That is why you don’t see high temps. My 4080 doesn’t even kick the fans on while playing d4 on similar settings.
But my 3070ti runs the fans constant. Different stock coolers on the cards is the reason.
I realize that. My point was that my old, underachieving hardware was having no problems.
