Tried the diablo 4 open beta with the wife on the xbox to see how it compared to pc. Daughter couldnt play as first problem is they limited coup coop to 2 player which is tragic as we had many happy hours with 3 or 4 of us on d3.
The experience was aweful and we didnt get more than a few minutes at a time before one of us disconnected and had to requeue to get jn. The interface was terrible too… didnt say what the queue was or even if someone was connecting.
We gave up after a while and played d3 forvthe first time in ages instead… instant log in, 3 player, and happy memories.
Its a pity that d4 seems like a big step back from d3 functionality wise and presumably all these connection issues are due to the forced multiplayer rubbish many people dont want.

It kept disconnecting on Friday but Saturday it was perfect for me. And I expected issues because of load testing.
People need to remember the beta version of the game is not a demo, but a test.
I found it very enjoyable and am totally stoaked for full release

I too went and played d3 after spending hours on this beta, have to say D4 feels like a step backwards. Almost like it’s a “companion” game to D2. Slow and clumsy game play, bad/dull graphics, bad/pointless storyline and weird “side quests” (its so chaotic and disorganized) horrible town/merchants and UI experience. I doubt I will even buy the game let alone “pre order” it lol

You didn’t experience the beta you gave up & played D3. Everyone had connection issues it was the server then fixed. I only got disconnected twice in all 3 days of the beta.

Considering this is a BETA, I had a lot of fun and thought it ran great! I had zero issues while playing on Series X. I’ve played in both beta weekends for over 20 hours. Not once have I been kicked off.
At most I’ve waited 30 minutes in a queue.

D3 sucked and this is going back to the D2 root, and to everyone thats not happy, o well.

If D3 “sucked” then why did millions of people buy it, still play every season, and are openly comparing this new game to it? Maybe, just maybe because it DIDNT suck and more specifically, it has become the standard that any arpg should be held to

When d3 came out it sucked oh my it sucked so bad. But, blizz worked and it got better. D3 was a long time coming to get where it is. I am going to see some soirces on the millions still buying and playing though. Also , indont know if d3 holds a candle to d2 maybe a generational thing but i saw guys in my dorm flunk out of college because of d2. I also gave up on d3 within the first 3 months.

Millions bought it because it’s the next story in the series. After Diablo 2 the series gameplay has gone to crap. The story however has not gone to crap it has been appreciated and accepted. Now nobody is saying blizzard can’t make up a story.
Just to give you a little info when it first came out it was high selling but the sales got higher when they had the real money auction house. When people found out how teenager kids were making thousands off the real money auction house. Everyone wanted to quit their jobs and grind D3 when some teenager made a video about how he made $120k off D3 RMAH.
After the removal and total revamp of the game yeah it got picked up more because it was no longer a grind for gear it was just cater to newgen here’s a stupid easy diablo game you can play blind folded just put on the legendaries or sets & go. There was no effort for strategy & nothing to think about also when you depend on life regen to recover instead of drinking potions theres no effort in a game. You just run aimlessly till your hp is full again.
A standard to appease new generation gamers who just want to play casually & have no effort of having to think for themselves or anything. A real triple A game will not go by Diablo 3 as an example of a good rpg. If they had to pick any Diablo game in the series it would be 2.
I am going to take a wild guess that you never played D2. You should & experience an 8 player party in HELL!

I played D2 a ton, just never online. I enjoyed D2 but I prefer D3. I didn’t find D3 to be “mindless” as you claim, I got it in late 2016 so maybe that was an in between period? Maybe it got more mindless after.

No you are wrong.
We all 3 played it on both weekends ON OUR PCS and got chars to 25 and obviously finished the story a few times.
This post was about us trying it on the xbox where it was a disaster on every level with the server issues and how we gave up and played d3 instead.
As a family we are still debating whether the negatives of d4 are worth putting up with. We all hate seeing randoms in our games and not being able to sofa coop as we dis with d3 is a huge let down.
Fortunately we can still play d3 happily.
My experience on Xbox was fine. Several characters above level 20. Only one disconnect the entire weekend.

Glad it worked for you.
We were playing couch co op during daytime Sat/Sun UK timezone and at those times there was a warning in game saying there were problems.
Dont know if coop or uk made a dufference to more disconnects.
It was always one player out of the two who disconnected never both at once and it happened to both p1 and p2.
I was playing on xbox one but still had the same experience. Got kicked a few times but never had to wait in a que for more than a minute or 2.
What are you talking about when you say co-op was limited to 2 people? You could have up to 4 people in co-op. I play with my two buddies for both of the betas the entire time. And one of their friends joined us on Saturday so we had a full group of 4 in the game at the same time.
Good for you
Not that anyone gives a crap
I said COUCH co op. COUCH coop is limited to 2 people in d4.
In d3 you could have 4 players playing on the same single xbox. We very often had 3 or 4 players at once with the family playing or for guests and it was great.
Couch coop when all the people you want to play with are physically in the same room is way better than remote play.

Both Fridays my wife and I had major issues getting couch coop to work so we gave up and I just played solo instead. The rest of the weekends we only had one disconnect despite playing two duos up to level 25. I’m really hoping the actual launch either resolves queues quickly, or they implement a system where player 2 can queue at the same time as player 1. Otherwise the game is basically unplayable for us as a couple.
The beta had a lot of problems but D3 is not better by any means, just a rift farm at this point.
