D4 needs Global chat!

It’s lame that D4 doesn’t have that. It’s easier to share tips, ideas, and help out other players via global chat.

D4 is so quiet that It might as well be an offline game. And noh, don’t tell me to join a guild and chat with them. It’s not the same.

This is definitely what it would be used for.

coming to the forum to ask for tips, tricks and builds is a complete waste of time imo. i’m a poe player and it’s great to get instant answers via global chat. D4… i better use google or post on the forum and hope i get a reply in 1 hr… lol.

and regardless what global chat is use for, it’s still cool. it’s great to talk shiet on global, debate, and say dumb shiets lol…

The game has sold over 7 million copies… I’m really not sure how you would have a global chat function with that many players without splitting it up in some way, otherwise it’ll just turn into a spam filled mess and you’d be better off asking questions on forums / reddit / discord anyway

It would also require some form of moderation which they likely don’t want to invest into just so that people can spam junk. Not to even mention the gold sellers

Because it is unheard of in 30 years of gaming technology to have chat…

Sure, show me a single game that has over ~5mil players with a global chat that has no way of splitting up the players, and isn’t purely filled with spam, bots and racism.

I’m not sure what game you are playing that has 5 million players.

Anyway, a global chat should be split regionally because of language differences.

Lilith 1.0’s predecessor, Diablo 3, had perfectly functioning chats that did not have spam, bots, or racism. So, I don’t know what you are talking about.

Even now you can log into that game and see people, albeit less these days, conversing and/or sharing builds/help.

poe does that easy with channels. its quite the integration of an API and the current graphics environment without causing delays and increases to your ping. can be a challenge to implement though.

It’s called Diablo IV

And yes, that was my point. You’d then have to further split the chats anyway

And again, yes. Chats that have thousands of people using them will be filled with spam, bots, racism and more

There’s really no need for a global chat… maybe a “layer chat” that lets you talk to anyone in your current layer, but even that is far from necessary imo

Why? Join a guild. 20c.

My guess is…

The game does have global and world chat, but it’s disabled to reduce the bandwidth due to more then 666 million dollar is not near enough money to pay for it.

You know what’s cool? They can build filters into the game to prevent spam, bots, and racism. Pretty neat eh? It’s so simple to implement that it’s provided for free for Valve SRCDS, created by the community: https://github.com/FAQU2/Advanced-Filters

Nifty eh?

Let’s not insult the Diablo namesake further - you know this is Lilith 1.0. That’s the star of show. No need to get upset.

Woah, filters?! No waaaaay. That’s possible? That’s crazy because literally every large online game in existence that has a chat feature still has really simple ways to bypass the filter and is still filled with spammers, bots and racism. Maybe they just aren’t using this free filter that you’ve now shown them, I’m sure that will solve the problem

but why do i have to join a guild just to get tips and chat? i’m always solo in all my mmo’s and arpg’s i played. I played games like guildwars since release and still play it today and never joined a guild. Guilds can be cool, but bothersome imo.

Your logic is something like → provide a good system, SOME people might abuse it, so therefore nobody should have it.

By that logic, we should abolish all cars because people can crash them, use them to traffic drugs, and it further splits demographics because not everyone can afford a car.

See how that works?

I can’t help it that game makers are lazy and don’t implement proper ways to moderate their chat, whether it be automated or checked by humans. But to not have a chat system in a game that forces you online and with other players, that is absurd.

POE. you can’t spam in POE global. you will get muted for hours by the GM fast. POE GM is always online monitoring global chat. Any players spewing spams, racism, etc will get muted for hours and all bots will get instant ban. don’t believe me. go try it. lol.

I think you’ll find I never said this. What I said is that it will be filled with spam, bots, and racism. I never said “you can’t add this feature!” - all I’ve said, again, is that it will be filled with spam, bots and racism.

So again, we come back to my point - they would need to specifically hire people to maintain the chat. Something which they clearly are not willing to do. It’s almost like I said all of this in the very first post I made

Please we need globall and off chats
Don’t have time for guild as casual player
So this is a big issue that needs addressing

Without question. It’s crazy that it was released as a sort of MMO, with zero way to communicate…

It sure is interpreted that way. They can, and should, allow users to turn on/off various chat channels.

Can you show me where they are clearly not willing to hire that position? The credits at the end of the campaign in Lilith clearly showed thousands of people, everyone from executives to janitorial staff.

If PoE, made by a company with a fraction of Blizzard’s budget, can manage it, then anyone can.
