D4 Leveling Vs PoE leveling

Enjoy!

basically. this game has no power fantasy. It’s like walking waist deep in mud with a ball and chain attached to every limb. I’m getting really sick of nightmare dungeons.

Have to agree here. Outside of Rogue, every class feels slow and boring while leveling. Some classes get better after 50+ hours in endgame gear / paragon, but the leveling process to get there is a slog.

Yeah, diablo4 is like Warhammer 40.000 - Inquisitor, which were even more extrem in this dogdeing of the power fantasy,

I did 5 dmg in my starting weapon in the first tutorial map, and i did thx enemy dmg and defence scaling 5 dmg on highest possible difficulty setting on max level.

Really hit it spot on.

D4’s whole early/mid game gameplay loop feels so sluggish and by the time you hit end game it starts to pick up to the same pace that PoE’s early game has.

Does not help D4 at all that they have that weird internal CD when doing actions.

Lol his build in D4 looks awful

That skill queue too is the absolute WORST. Watch my precocious resources disappear because i had a random skill queued up.

Really? Looks like a normal HoTA build.

For me the worst part about it is Ill be using my builder to build resources and then go to use a core skill only for it to end up using another builder that was queued up.

Haven’t played barb, rogue leveling is very smooth

Ya Rogue’s TB build is insane to level with since for the most part it ignores the builder/spender system.

No clue why you were trying to say the guy’s build sucks when you just admitted to not playing barb.

Yeah. As I noted above, Rogue is the only class that feels good while leveling. Blizzard should try to replicate Rogue’s leveling experience on all other classes, but they’ll probably just nerf Rogues so they feel bad while leveling too.

lol so spot on. The D4 leveling experience is a slog fest.

I don’t understand what part of “D4 is a much slower and methodical combat” game you people do not understand.

If I wanted spastastic colorful explosions galore then I’d go back to PoE!

I remember several years back (like 4-5 if memory serves me correct) PoE combat was much slower (I have over 3300 hours in the game) the combat changed due to power creep for the worse which sped it up much to to consternation of the playerbase. Every since the devs at GGG have been trying to slow the pace of combat but a very miniscule cadre of their hardcore playerbase want speed and more speed.

I’ll take D4 combat’s pace of PoE every day of the week!

Glad you enjoy struggling against a white skeleton even though you can kill Lillith lol.

You know ‘generator/spender/cooldown’ system might also be a contributor to the levelling being a slog fest. You basically spend way too much time doing attacks that do not deal meaningful damage, slowing the clearing down and ending up feeling boring.

Isn’t that a problem though? That if he doesnt go with something cookie cutter/one dimensional, he is wrong?

That is an issue with the game.

D4 seems designed for the elderly. Everything has to be slower there. At least you have to be older in spirit to like such a lame combat system.

It’s not exactly the system’s problem either, it’s just the numbers. D3 essentially had this system on most/all (It’s been a while I don’t remember) the characters and it was still fast paced and smooth. Builders should build more and do more damage, spenders should be cheaper, and cooldowns should be shorter.

It’s also just the CC obsession that’s in this game that makes it feel clunky. The monsters CC all the time, you CC all the time, the main boss engagement feels like CCing to feel the gauge. It’s all very MMO having multiple people in multiple roles and not single player ARPG.

Yeah I think I am lucky I went with Rogue as my first character, after a few levels into 50 I rolled to play with some of the other classes and…holy…moly it feels like smashing my head on a desk. Nothing ever feels impactful, wet noodle attacks

My biggest issue with leveling is that the D4 skill tree feels just worthless, they could give me enough skill points to fill out the whole tree and it wouldn’t matter really

Skill tree feels bad because of scaling, you never feel like you are getting stronger. Its just a very odd thing to have in an ARPG the way they did it.

PoE did it much better with the ability to down scale with a click of a button when you play with lower level players. Thats how it should be done here as well, not forced on you.
