D4 is not optimized for 16gb ram

title, some people have 16 gb of ram and are getting 100 percent usage every time they try to play the game, can you fix this. and yes all programs are closed for my friend who has 16gb of ram and would like to try the open beta. works fine with 32 gb of ram is which i have but task manager with game open shows diablo 4 using 16gb of ram and utilizing all of it and ramping the usage to max for my friend and some others

Yep. Been struggling. Managed to reallocate outsourcing to the SSD. Might have worked.

i play on a nvme so does he but the ram usage for him and others is crazy.

Mine was also 100% but apparently ram also outsources to drives says hardware forums.
Or maybe my ram peaked in the first place because my SSD was full. Not trying to defend blizzard here. The game is poorly optimized. But there might be workarounds for people.

it can yes but 16 gb is the may payload when 32 is probably required because i use like 32 gb of ram while my friend uses 16gb. oh and im also using 4000 ghz ram modules

Im having this issue now for the first time. Played pre-order & this beta and was fine until this last update. I have 3 char’s at 25, made a rogue, started to play after this last update and now it kicks me off after maybe 5 min saying it ran out of memory. What changes happened with the most recent update?! 16gb ram is the recommended amount so no clue how those with 8gb ram are even able to play…

its uses 8gb yes but windows 11 uses 7 to 8 gb therefore adding 16gb usage

Max usage I see is about 7.5GB, I have 16GB total. Only time I get an OOM is when I exit the game, have to kill it every time from task manager, other than that I have had no memory issues during gameplay. Memory is Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz CL16 DDR4.

i said windows 11 takes in account as well, not just d4. that might be the case for your ram but others like my friend, no

I think it might be useful if you provide the RAM hardware details as well in this post.

ddr4 3200 corsair 16 gb ram is his while mine is ddr4 4000 viper 32 gb ram

I get OOM few times too. I have 16GB with GTX1070.

First weekend I was using HIGH Textures and I had one “Out Of Memory” crash.

2nd weekend they forced MEDIUM textures on my system and not one crash.

I’m running Win 10 64-bit, 16GB RAM, 3070ti with 8GB RAM. Only 1920x1080 resolution. System disk and Game disk are separate SSD/NVMe.

Honestly, even though only 16GB RAM, textures should be stored on GPU and I should be able to run HIGH textures without problems. But I guess it’s time to upgrade to 32GB RAM for my system anyway.

EDIT:
Played a lot, got all classes to 25 and cleared 33/35 side quests, all Lilith statues, 22/23 dungeons, 100% map and farmed some “BETA endgame gear” on “weakest” classes Barb/Druid. The one OOM crash I had was after being in the same game (without restarting) for over 9 consecutive hours.

I was getting constant OOM errors and couldn’t even play during the open beta. I have not pre-ordered and don’t plan to after running into this error. Maybe I’ll purchase it after they work out all the annoying issues. I shouldn’t be getting OOM errors running this game in 1080p with a RTX 3080 and 32GB of RAM.

High texture pack uses 18 to 20G.
If you only have a 1 to 4G GPU, then you’re already OOM before you open the game.
Medium usages about 8G.
The game uses about 8.

If you have a GPU with 4G or less, i would put textures on low, otherwise you’ll likely hit OOM.

It is what it is, and memory is cheap.

If you want high res textures, get a better GPU or more memory
