So just announced D2R will get no patch notes for next season while D3 gets some cool stuff for whatever reason.
I’m done with D3 and have no interest to play any longer also don’t see a reason to when there’s D4 and D2R. I tried to enjoy it when it was its time but it was getting nothing then. I moved on and I’m glad.
I liked D2R but last I played a lot of the people in the community were really against any changes and basically wanted the game to stay as Diablo 2 at 1.14 - so I’m not surprised the game isn’t getting massive developments. I know it’s had updates since but I haven’t gone back to check them out.
The D3 final season looks great to me, I hope it’s lots of fun.
With D4 blizz is in a bad spot. They basically have teams simultaneously trying to develop balanced season content while other teams are, presumably, working frantically to attempt to address the fundamental issues with the game - but of course doing this will upset the seasonal balance.
I imagine the dev experience is pretty much chaos. They should just pause seasons until they actually have a fun game IMO - but seasons are likely seen as revenue drivers by management so that’s probably why they can’t stop.
I would expect most seasons to flop until the core game is in a better place.
Why would D2R get any updates? It’s basically a retired game. But yeah, D4 is pretty much a lost cause at this point. It needs “A Realm Reborn’d”, the game design is bad at a fundamental level. But the egos and bean counters at Blizzard would never do that.
D2R is good enough even by modern standards that new patches could equate to more interest and sales. I wouldn’t mind seeing new stuff for D2R. They probably won’t though…
Currency tab and Solo Self-Found Mode would be great additions. A lot of people want loot filter too. They added SSF to D3 instead when there’s already no trading and it makes less sense.
Well said and agreed on all fronts. Every time D2R got any changes people were crying about one thing or another. I’m always open to more but they have priorities. D3 is supposedly going out with a bang so hey why not for the last season but that game is not for me. D4 i’m hoping is the focus and i hope they have all men/women on deck working on this from seasons, to patches, quality of life, items to added content aside from the expansions.
Oh and Diablo Immortal i hope it burns in hell…efff that game.
It is not the final season S29 is the last season with a new theme. Starting with S30 they will recycle the themes and rewards. The Altar of Rites will also come back starting with S30. S30 will also have some new balances changes.
D2 is a twenty three year old game. Yes, D2R is a remaster, but still it’s a remaster of a twenty three year old game. How many players do you think are actually playing that compared to DI, D3 and D4? The game was great for its time, but it had it’s day in the sun. Plus the no changes crowd would go nuts the minute Blizzard added anything that they felt “ruined their childhood.” I’m surprised Blizzard even bothers with ladders instead of just simply making the game available online and saying “enjoy the nostalgia.”
D3 just released Season 29 which is the last one with a new theme. That kind of makes it a send off to many people for the game . Yes they will continue on by repeating prior seasons, but the game is pretty much finished at that point as far as bringing in new players. Why wouldn’t they hype that up and try to go out with a bang? So it makes sense for them to keep a small team on that game. And DI is making them a killing with microtransactions so of course they will devote time and resources to that.
D4 will be getting a new season next month with updates on that coming soon. Plus, I’m pretty sure we will be getting that first D4 expansion announcement at Blizzcon in November. So just be patient.
We didn’t really wait for Season 1 as it came out barely a month and a half after the game launched. If anything, they should have waited much longer before releasing that first season.
I highly doubt that. There are still a lot of D2 purists and no changers that think even the current alterations go too far. It’s supposed to be a remaster and I’m sure they intend to keep it that way. It’s a dinosaur but a good dinosaur, no point in trying to turn it into anything else.
