Cursed aura also nerfed in patch notes update

As well as the great feast and creeping death, notice the unexpected patch notes update changed the cursed aura aspect from:

You automatically Curse enemies around you with Decrepify and Iron Maiden.

Curses inflicted this way spread to surrounding targets every [2.5 - 0.3] seconds and last 4 seconds outside of the aura.

To:


Gain an aura that automatically afflicts nearby enemies with Decrepify and Iron Maiden for 4 seconds. In addition, cursed enemies spread their curses to additional enemies every 0.2-2.5 seconds.

So TL;DR, the curses only lasts for four seconds inside the aura. Meaning an enemy has to leave the aura and re-enter it for the curse to be reapplied.

Rubbish change and I won’t be using this aspect anymore.

Nothing happend with great feast. There was a typo there. It remained as it originaly was on PTR.

Let’s hold off jumping off the cliff on this. It could very well reapply the curse if it expires in the aura.

Let’s wait and test it to see how it works before jumping to conclusions.

That’s not what the wording says, which begs the question of why they’d change the wording if the effect was the same, but we’ll see.

Where does it say it won’t reapply it if the curse expires? I’m not seeing that in the wording.

Also why would they have to exit and re enter to be cursed. It just says the curse lasts 4 seconds so I assume they means for if they leave, otherwise it just keeps replying like a normal curse.

Curses have a duration by default, and affected enemies spread the curse that is out side the aura.

I mean, from the description and a bit of creative playstyle, you could in theory ride a wave of curses through a dungeon without even being near a most of what you’re killing. It won’t be easy to do, but it sure might make for a fun video.

I find it doubtful you’d need mobs to exit the aura to have curses re-apply. That would be silly. The aura should pulse the curses every 4s and anything curses fell off of would get re-cursed if remaining within the aura area.

I’d note, on PTR if you cursed a group of targets with Cursed Aura the spread mechanism would cause them to persist indefinitely. It looked like the spreading curses refreshed the curses on the enemies. Since the spread timer is less than the curse duration it never expired. If the curses had to fall off before being re-applied this wouldn’t be the case.

In fact, the curses wouldn’t even expire if you left the mobs. The curses just kept bouncing around the group and getting refreshed. I stumbled on this accidentally when testing something else. I had to afk for some reason, went to the entrance of the target dummy training ground and upon returning found the target dummy group was still cursed.

I’d bank on this change being aimed at streamlining the aspect description.

I mean how many times we saw blizz giveing wording that can be misunderstood. Sadly we will have to figure it out when season goes live.
