I only play solo. I have joined a party only a hand full of times in the first few seasons during legion events for the exp bonus. I play everything solo. I usually get burnt out after a month or so each season. I have never killed an uber boss, and I have never seen a Mythic/Uber Unique drop.
I am curious how my experience as an SSF differs to other SSF players.
I almost always play a sorc, occasionally necro as an alt.
Same situation but always main Rogue. I usually get around 20-30 Mythics (currently about 20 already this season). Never had any trouble when decently geared to kill even the Tormented level 200 Bosses from last season. I have always played to the end of the season making new builds but this season since Rogue is so comparatively weak and aspects being so hard to upgrade, not to mention it being entirely pointless seasonal reward-wise, I donāt see this happening.
Same. I have also never killed Lilith. I play HC, a new class and single build each season. I put in between 200-300 hours a season.
I usually only have two to four 3GA items drop a season. None have ever been usable. I think I have only ever had a single 2GA item that was usable by my builds. Most of the gear I wear has no GAs. I think my best season had about half my gear with a single GA.
Oddly, this morning, I dropped my first ever 4GA item. It was a unique Jacinth Shell. It even had a perfectly rolled unique power. But like all the other supposed good items I get, it isnāt usable by my build.
I never have resource issues either. Sometimes gold is a little tight.
I almost never Masterwork gear because Iām always waiting for something better. If I do, I only take it to four. I may have taken a few pieces of gear to 8 but usually it would be because it already had a GA or was a requirement of the Season Journey.
More or less the same as me. I generally get bored after finishing my build and play other things. Iām in T2 and not really interested in the slow tweaks and improvements to move up in T levels. And Iām good with that. Just like D3 I view D4 as a game you mix in with other games not a āone game Andyā, only thing you play game.
I play solo but my experience is much different. Tormented bosses are fairly easy. When you said you e never killed one have you just not tried or tried and failed?
Iāll answer your question. But first Iād like to say, as long as your having fun donāt go looking to hard at other people. That is one of the things that ruins so many peopleās fun. If all these people complaining about balance didnāt have access to all the info/streamers they wouldnāt even know that the broken stuff exists and would be playing what they actually enjoy instead of pining for their preferred class/build to be the most OP.
To answer your question - I play almost exclusively SSF. and I have a vastly different experience. Though I would think that I am not the norm in any category. I like to place myself in the hardcore casual category. I play way to much and have an in depth knowledge of the game/mechanics/builds/ect ⦠I enjoy min/maxing everything i come across and tweaking builds to no end. I have written many-a build guides over the years and consider myself a pretty damn good gamer overall. All this would typically put me in an elitist style category. But I donāt have the attitude that āIām better than youā. I donāt need, nor do I want, a perfectly balanced game. Give me a super-tank that kills slow, or a jack-of-all trades but master of none, or a glass cannon that 1 shots everything but also gets one shot. I want more than to just see different effects when I push a button across all my characters. I HATE the meta. I wish there was a way to suppress all the stupid crap the meta brings. I enjoy a game for what it is ⦠not what I want it to be.
Having said all of that - I always have almost everything in the game āon farmā at some point or another. So I typically see at least a few mythics each season and Iāll spend anywhere from a month to the full 3 playing. I always make a doubleswing barb. Almost always make a Meteor sorc. And it used to be that I always made a trap rogue. But rogue has become stale for me. Lately Iāve been rly enjoying the Druid. Typically, by the end of a season, I have at least one of each class.
Where have you been seeing most of your mythic drops from? And what torment? I am trying to figure out if playtime, or playstyle is my issue for not getting more out of the game.
Ah s**t, why didnāt I just try that when I previously said I couldnāt.
Before fractured winterglass came out, I did not want to play the firebolt/fire wall build. I still donāt really even want to play the LS frozen orb build, but its better than not killing anything. The options in the past are a big reason I couldnāt kill level 200 bosses. Now I am able to kill tormented bosses on T2
Note that I did say Uber bosses in my original post.
But you could. The only thing stopping you from doing so was yourself. Yeah you said uber but I liken them to be the same thing as tormented. They are ladder bosses. They were in the first season they brought them out and they still are today.
Good to see that you can kill them now. I wasnāt trying to criticize you in my post. I was trying to encourage you in case you never tried.
What sorc specs do you like btw? My favorite is chain lightning. I also enjoyed ball lightning and ice shards. LS/FO was ok. Im not fond of the fire builds.
This season the Tribute of Ascendance is supposed to have a chance of getting a Mythic of something ridiculous like 60%. I donāt know if this is in fact true but Iāve gotten one a good 50% of the time Iāve run it. Other than that Iāve had luck basically everywhere including The Blood Maiden. That said of the approximate 20, 8 have been Doombringer and 4 have been Shako. Not a Shroud of False Death, a Tyraelās or an Heir of Perdition in the lot. Had to farm for Runes like heck to craft those. All I think on T4 except maybe one on T1 when I was working my way up. Still canāt get past Pit 90 as a Rogue anyway though.
Thats funny. I dont have quite as many mythics as you do but you keep getting Doombringer. I keep getting Shattered Vow and Nesekem the Herald. Must be a class related thing. I did get a variety of other things like Andarials, Tyraels, and even Heir of Perdition. Never Shroud or Shako though. I had to craft that and Shako. Seen a few melted hearts and one ring of starless. I think ive gotten 13 or 14 mythics in over 800 kills but I stopped keeping track of kills. Most of them were from Varshan and not the big 2.
Why on earth are you playing this, of all games, solo? The solo experience is downright oppressive. Most systems aggressively favour a full group or are downright exclusive to group play (tormented bosses, Dark Citadel).
Iād highly suggest playing a different ARPG if youāre a solo player. D4 = play in a group or GTFO.
I usually get burnt out after a month or so each season
The only time I was burnt out after a month or even earlier was S3 and that also made me skip S4 mostly. But I was able to play the last 3 days of S4 in prep for S5 and still hit level 100 in S4.
But in most cases I linger for more than a month. I think the last 3 weeks is when I wind down
I have never killed an uber boss
I killed a ton of them solo. They are easy once you got enough damage. Lilith is probably my least favorite
have never seen a Mythic/Uber Unique drop.
I have not seen a single one since S0 to S4 even though collectively I have spent more time in those compared to S5. In S5 I got a ton even as a solo where I was able to equip 5 alts with full mythics. I got 2 Mythics when I got invited to a group.
In S6 I got far less mythics but I still got a bunch. Probably 20 now. Iām Para 289 now as a solo player btw.
In the past I tried to make a āviableā meteor build. No doubt that has been a source of why things couldnāt die. Since Winterglass has been added, my builds have been based around that. I tried a chain lightning build with axial conduit this season, but it still feels clunky not being able to spam chain lightning. So I have gone back to LS/FO
Oh man. This season the Mythics have been raining down on me and I am solo.
Put on a boss mats Opal and do a bajillion fast pits and get a bajillion boss summons which then just throw runes out and occasionally a Mythic.
I have 4 toons rocking three Mythics each and 14 more in my stash and 4 sparks⦠the drop rate is now 7% btw.
I have been playing a lot though.
I play SSF 95% of the time. I like to finish everything in the game on my own, even if I do it in a group randomly, I will go back and play it solo, just to know that my build can do it. The 5% of the time I group is if friends ask for some help leveling or people asking for help with a boss in the chat.
Burnoutā¦depends on the season. Sometimes it is worth playing multiple classes, this season I played 2 non-SB (Druid and Barb) classes and have lost interest, I can log in and play maybe 2 days a week for an hour session each right now that I am at paragon 246. Early on I played daily especially with my first character to get it as high as possible quicklyā¦but interest faded once I hit Torment 4 and it has nothing to do with class balance. SImply just bored as the only difference between torment 1 and torment 4 is supposedly a drop rate for gear you donāt specifically need for anything. And the leveling is JUST not worth the time it takes.
S5 I played till the end, the very last day, but also the same 2 classes Druid and Barb.
S4 Sorc and Druid
S3 Rogue and Sorc
S2 Necro and Sorc, Rogue
S1 Barb and Sorc
Pre-Season Sorc.
I donāt lose interest unless I play too much, but after the main class levelingā¦it is more just to try out builds.
I never look at builds, I like to make my own, that is most of the game for me.
That said, I have been watching less and less youtube around Diablo each seasonā¦only because I think they tend to taint your opinion on the game. That is the truth. A lot less bothers me when I donāt watch youtube, that is not to say things about the game donāt bother me. But at least I know it BOTHERS ME.
