I was thinking about an ultra-defensive thorns build for barb or even necro that could survive a disconnect. Not even sure that is possible. Anyone have any experience with that?
My rogue would die for sure if I got DCed, but I was wondering if a thorns build could kill the mobs that supposedly kill you.
It can kill some mobs (many?) which will reduce your risk of dying but it won’t guarantee that you survive. I saw someone post that they like their thorns barb. Just like a necro having a strong minion army can distract/kill mobs when you DC but there are no guarantees.
HC is all about managing your chances of dying and there are a lot of things that can be done to that end (thorns, minions, more tanky build, auto damage, easier content etc) - but anyone can die - so it’s up to you to decide what you’re willing to do / put up with and how much risk vs reward feels good to you.
Thanks for the info. I have a HC rogue who made it to WT4 at 65, but I haven’t played him since. Very strong class. I recently had some disconnects (not on HC), so I was thinking about ways to reduce the risk. I rolled a HC barb last night to play some in S1. Thanks again.

Nice good luck. I was really thinking about doing that this season but decided to try a sorcerer instead. Yup, the same class everyone thinks is “the worst and useless” - except mine apparently because I’ve been blowing everything up, never in danger, and loving the experience. Will probably roll a thorns barb or a rogue next season 
. Badly need a lot more stash space though, 1 character is fine but I can’t imagine playing alts.
Game is 100% better and more enjoyable when you just do your own thing, ignore the “popular” opinion, and stay away from the cesspit of Lilith’s hatred and corruption that is the general discussion board lol.
