Crying about nerfs isn't worth it

I am one of those who believes that crying is important. It is information after all.
But crying about a change made by a developer who knows exactly how well a class performs (in other words: they know which class has reached which Pit level and with which build) and how much a skill is used… is not worth it.

I’m not saying “don’t do it”… just that you’re wasting your time. (We all waste time playing video games, so it’s not something that really matters… but you could waste it in a more “fun way”, you know?)

The nerfs may be too many… or maybe they are not enough. Developers can make mistakes. That’s worth discussing, but only if you know the true impact the nerf has.

“My class is dead” is not knowing the true impact… especially when it is quite common to see that no one can decide which class is the best. Anyone who visits the forums regularly knows that no one really has a clue.

The truth is that in the end, what matters is how much you play the game (and which build/skill you use).
Remember that your best cry is not playing (and not declaring “I’m going to stop playing” only to play 24/7 and turn into a whale 5 minutes later).

If they are not crying about one thing they will be crying about another, and another it will never end.

Just like the street beggar you yelled at me after I gave him $5, I said what is your problem. He said “I wanted $20.”

Yeah I hear you. I see so many people crying about the Sorc. I’m actually quite excited about the Sorc in S5 though.

The thing is, we don’t know what else is coming.

There’s going to be about 15 new uniques and 35 new legendary powers.

It’s very possible that some of the builds that are getting major nerfs might be because they’re getting massively overpowered items in S5 too.

For instance, Necro Blight build is getting a 70% nerf because of Blighted and Wither changes (would be more if there weren’t other buffs), but there could quite easily be a legendary power that increases your Blight damage itself by 1500% damage through interactions of some sort that could actually increase its damage output by 100% or something.

We just don’t know, and we’re not going to be able to test them all in PTR either by the looks of it.

People can do their maths, calculate how good/bad things look, but none of it is final and it’s only a subset of what’s coming.

We don’t even know what the Season theme is yet, and that could have massive implications for some builds too.

Looking forward to playing PTR and seeing how things feel.

You won’t stop people from crying or complaining, just not going to happen. So instead what I would suggest doing is muting their posts so they don’t pop up at the top of the forum when you open it up.

Those threads are nothing but a giant echo chamber anyway, where if you disagree with even the smallest thing, you’re all of a sudden a white knight, a shill, etc. You aren’t allowed to discuss a different side to things, or give hard facts without being shunned out of the conversation.

So for those who don’t know, at the bottom of every post, just below the giant Reply button, there is a drop down for Notification options. By default this is set to ‘Tracking’ which was very annoying to me, so I switched to ‘Normal’ as the default.

However there’s also a ‘Muted’ option you can use. It will get rid of the post on your front page, you won’t see any notifications, and it cleans up the forum rather nicely.

Enjoy.

Yes, but those who ask for 20 are many fewer than those who ask for 5.
That’s information.
And the developers already know very well that nobody likes nerfs. So they don’t contribute anything new.

I know. It’s my own waste of time.
And I like to talk on the forums, so it’s a “fun way” for me.

Nothing new under the fortress of pandemonium.

Oh I do too, I just don’t bother when people complain about the most mundane thing on the forum, coming up with conspiracy theories, and what might happen based off a few patch notes. I call them the ‘Cry Before You Try’ group.

Also to note, to date, nothing has changed based on complaints before a patch has hit, only after a patch has hit. Almost as if the devs want people to actually experience the changes and then give their feedback, a weird concept I know.

Being passionate about a favorite class is not about crying.

When they nerf a class to a point where other classes are vastly superior, expect a huge backlash.

Iggimancer hits one out of the park. :baseball: Ever notice how the crying starts as soon as the camp fire chat starts? :fire:

Class balance is the least of this game’s concerns.

am 100% sure these deves have no idea how the classes work! every season there is a new or exsisting exploit in the game!

and instead of fixing the exploit they just nerf skills!

At least wait to play the changes before you call in the Waaambulance.

That’s always the best course of action. That’s why, when I grew suspicious that my X wife was cheating. I waited until she moved the other guy in before I believed what I was seeing and hearing. And took action.

Thanks for the laugh :+1:

It’s very difficult to appease the fanbase entirely, and the D4 dev team has been working their butts off trying to polish everything before Vessel of Hatred. I’m all for QOL and end game suggestions from the fan base, but cursing out the devs, and begging for them to be fired over nerfs is kinda silly.

Yeah, people crying about the game being to easy and leveling too fast should just stop playing the game, indeed. :3
