All things being equal is there ever a case where using a bow is better than a Crossbow? The extra Vulnerable damage seems very hard to pass up.
Other than the fact Bows just look better IMO.

I use Skuhunter against equal level enemies (so for Helltides and open world etc). It is quicker because it always crits on the first shot, and then penetrating shot gets +crit% on the second hit. Firing off two penetrating shots with Skyhunter = everything is dead. It is much quicker than a Xbow because the Xbow will not clear with penetrating shot if it does not crit (And the Xbow which I use for NM dungeons is practically a perfect roll 806 ilvl). For a melee focused rogue you always want to use a Xbow.
Yes, because of the vulnerable damage and how damage buckets work, crossbows are better always.
It’s a shame, I would consider skyhunter if it was a crossbow (only consider, since I would also lose out on a doubled legendary aspect like edgemasters for my 2H…) But as a bow, distant damage is just objectively inferior to vulnerable damage.
That is the same conclusion I am coming to.
It doesn’t matter. If you have enough Crit damage. Against equal level enemies Skyhunter is going to clear much quicker (with a range focused build) than a Xbow with Vulnerable. Vulnerable damage is better for encounters where enemies don’t die in one or two crits.
It won’t, because if you’re stacking crit you will be clearing groups easily. The precision passive helps with crits, as does crit chance. You also can have for example edgemasters which is a 40% multiplier on damage. Skyhunter just makes you crit more, it doesn’t improve your crits very much. Crits with crossbows are superior and you can afford to take 1-2 shots to pop a group but with skyhunter you may encounter elites or groups you can’t insta-pop because of the drastic damage decrease
So how much crit can you stack that you think it will compete with 100% guarantee crit on every enemy you target…
Just for clarification, that means you can target one enemy in a pack and crit. And then target another enemy in a pack and get another crit… And so on.
Against enemies which do not have a huge health pools. How exactly is a Xbow with vulnerable going to compete with that in terms of speed farming.
If you’re a melee Rogue then yes xbow is a no brainer, even if you’re running puncture (which i’m pretty sure 99% of us do)
Ranged Rogue, bow or xbow that probably depends on your build
