Crit damage tempering

So it turns out we can use a rogue to temper crit damage on weapons. Is this better than close/berserking damage?

interesting, I’d assume yes if you have grandfather.

Interesting indeed. Looks like I’m rolling a Rogue. I guess that class is useful this season after all

Its only worth it if you have 3,000 crt damage and have grandfather to boost that crt damage to 6,000 crt damage.

And even then you have to run berserk ripping, the talent gushing wounds for some double dipping on bleed damage.

Gushing Wounds is so amazingly bad it isn’t even funny. Even with that level of CHD, it sucks.

CHD < DwB

Damage While Berserking is Multiplicative. As an Affix, CHD, and Damage to Close are Additive.

There are points where Additive Affixes will surpass DwB, but DwB boosts all your buckets and it is pretty much assumed you will always be Berserking no matter what build you play. Even with the nerf to Blood Rage, DwB is still the best damage Affix followed by Strength.

Apparently yes using rogue’s marksman finesse recipe.

A weapon you found has str, chd, life
We can temper crit dmg… resulting in double chd.

It is tripled if it is a sword.

Are you sure about that? I thought Damage while Bersekring was also converted to additive. I also see that most roll Damage to close enemy instead of DwB.

I generally don’t like the fact that the game doesn’t tell you exactly how everything is calculated. You don’t really know which affixes to go for…

Barb have node on board with 30% multiplicative dmg. But on the weapons it additive

To my knowledge the only change to DwB has been that Blood Rage got a cap put on it at x30%. This is reflected still with the fact that DwB values as an Affix are lower than Damage to Close and Damage while Wrath of the Berserker is added.

Max Base Roll on 925 Gear

  • Damage: 45%
  • Damage while Berserking: 55%
  • Damage to Crowd Controlled: 65%
  • Damage to Close: 85%
  • Damage while Wrath of Berserker is active: 105%

If DwB was not multiplicative, Damage to Close would be overwhelmingly the best option for most and there would not be any reason to take anything else.

I do find it odd however that Damage to Crowd Controlled would be less than Damage to Close. If those are all additive it should then be:

  • Damage: 45%
  • Damage to Close: 55%
  • Damage while Berserking: 65%
  • Damage to Crowd Controlled: 85%
  • Damage while Wrath of Berserker is active: 105%

I don’t think you actually understand Gushing Wounds.

Anytime you bleed something you have a chance equal to your crt chance which you can get to almost 100%

2nd part of Gushing wounds is the damage is increased by 130× your crt damage if you have 6,000 crt damage with grandfather, and use berserk ripping the bleed number is so stupid it will one shot lv 200 bosses when you use rupture on all that

Is this theorycrafting, because I used it in S3 with the most streamlined build with Grandfather and Gushing Wounds, you name it and it did NOT work like the tooltip says or anywhere near it. There are numerous posts to this effect on the Barbarian forums regarding Gushing Wounds and how bad it is.

I swapped over to WA which was infinitely better than GW and I was clearing things exceptionally fast.

Not theory, brother.

the problem is you cant just stack Crit damage an win you need a mix of both crit damage and additive damage

its like this
additive x crit damage
2x10 is 20
4x8 is 32

you have to have a balance to get the highest number

So to get the crit damage temper, do I need to level the rogue and find it or can I just make a lvl 1 rogue and the rogue tempers will startt to drop while I play my barb?
