Since the release of the expansion the game constantly crashes for millions of players.
Blizzard does nothing to fix that.
They claim to do something though, because in every patch over the last months you will find they say “various stability improvements”.
But after each patch the problem remains.
This holds true for the 2.1.1 patch as well.
It is ridiculous that a billion dollar company cannot fix that.
It is a slap in the face for everyone who paid a whopping 40 $ for an expansion that has content worth only 10 $. And on top it constantly crashes.
They do NOTHING to fix the problem with constant crashes for millions of players.
I wrote to the customer support and they essentially told me that the problem would probably be my PC and the advice goes so far that they say I should try reinstalling my operating system.
But while I can play all other games without any problems and while I could play Diablo 4 without crashes before the release of the expansion, it is not my PC which is the problem. The problem is on Blizzard’s side (game and/or server).
But they even deny that the problem is on their side.
Not only is it a slap in the face to get so little content for a whopping 40 $.
Not only is it a slap in the face that the game constantly crashes and the company responsible for that does not do anything about it.
Not only is it a slap in the face that the game constantly crashes and the company only PRETENDS to fix the problem, while not doing so.
But it is also a slap in the face of all customers that the customer support of that company gives the advice to the customer to search for the problem on the customer’s PC.
Shame on you, Blizzard!
But while they obviously do not spend any effort into fixing the constant-crashes problem, they invest huge amount of resources in cosmetic skins and want players to pay ridiculous prizes on top of an already ridiculously overpriced expansion that constantly crashes.
But I hear you… and I wasn’t aware of an uptick in crashes since VoH specifically, but definitely since S7 (myself included).
The problem might be that you’re one of those customers who does spend on that stuff…? That incentivizes them to lean on that side of the user experience.
They’ve hired a few UI devs recently, and the words that keep coming up in the job descriptions are “shop” and “store”… hopefully they’re there to improve the entire UI experience.
I’ll say this about the mysterious roadmap: even if future expansions be doomed, they could strip down the studio to a skeleton staff that focuses on sparse seasonal content + cosmetics & UI elements, and that would become their sustain revenue while the bulk of the studio moves on to the next project. (IOW that 15% revenue that comes from MTX could become the main funding for that pared-down ‘maintenance mode’ they definitely have in their back pocket if XBOX cracks down in the next year or two). And people routinely buying cosmetics is the proof they need to conclude that that’s an option.
I’m in IT. It’s almost certainly in your system. You could be running a bad driver or have a component in your system that is not operating to specification that is only effected when pushed too hard by a program like Diablo 4. There might be a program running in the background that is causing a conflict.
Everyone is running the same version of the software. If it was a bug than it would be effecting everyone and it’s not. Blaming Blizzard will not fix your problem because the over-whelming majority of people are not crashing. Learn to fix your computer or take it to professionals that can swap out components and reinstall your O/S.
It’s more then likely on blizzard I dunno where y’all get this idea that tons of people’s systems aren’t running right but the only game it has problems running is d4 that would automatically rule out the system but ok let’s go further… Blizzard has admitted to data leaks already and the fix was a data limit through system files… But sure that’s not on blizzard lol must set system memory usage for 1 game …
You sure you work in IT?
Yeah, really screws with credibility when folks use something nonsensical like “millions of players” or “everyone” when a quick google or search of the forums proves it to be false.
I’ve experienced one or two crashes ever since the game launched. That said, there’s clearly issues that are proving harder to fix (assuming it’s not hardware or other software that’s causing the issues) for some, but not for nearly as many players as folks would like to think.
And the “It’s a ‘you’ problem” excuses start. With a whopper than can be demonstrably shown to be a lie. There are numerous race conditions bugs throughout Diablo 4. They range from the ability to dupe to people hanging on the start screen unless they time mouse clicks correctly or edit their LocalPrefs.txt file.
People with monster machines 60+Gb, high end graphics cards, stupidly fast SSD, still experience crashes even after doing all the diagnostic fiddling. The code even crashes or goes wonky on consoles every season were everyone is ostensibly using the same hardware but subtle timing differences in network response expose the fragility of the code.
Stop blaming the end users and put the screws to Blizzard to fix this bug ridden PoS.
I know the OP is using some hyperbole but that doesn’t mean they aren’t right about the low quality of this product.
Playing HC I’ve adopted the rule that I don’t play a new patch until it’s had at least 2 days to cook. If, after 2 days, there aren’t numerous crash reports I can usually (though not always) start playing again. So now that’s looking like Friday if I’m lucky.
This was fixed long ago, if i remember right, there was an issue with rtx 3080 and lower gpu’s where my friend had to revert back to an old graphics driver and that solved it np.
I myself didn’t go cheap and went with the 3090, with game at full settings i think it takes up 16gb of the 24 the gpu has, at low settings it takes up like 4gb of the gpu’s ram.
a lot of blame goes towards the companies making the games and not the people who bought a walmart pc, i for one have never had it crashed over and over.
I will say, after two weeks of relative stability and better performance, whatever they’ve done with this latest release has set things right back into crash city. I can’t even make it through a full duration of incense/elixir before a fenris ctd. Trying to do a 10-wave infernal horde feels like a gamble if you can make it to the end before a force close. Not good, devs.
