CPU Question on new computer

I’m getting ready to buy another computer and I’m debating between 2 diffferent types of CPUs. Does anyone have any helpfull info on which one is better between the Intel i9 14900KF and the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS It will be used for gaming and work.

I would really suggest finding a reputable tech forum to ask, or look for benchmark information specific to those processors either written on tech/PC websites or via tech YouTube channels. This is absolutely not the place to ask for that information, neither topically or from us savages that lurk here.

Imho i never got problems with Amd stuff , they lasted long and performed well. I never felt the urge to pay premium for Intel when i can get almost the same performance from an Amd.

The only downside i can tell you is that some of their cpus stock coolers arent that good. Not sute about the Ryzen9 one , you have to look that up.

What do you do for work? Right now, the best gaming CPU you can buy is the 9800x3D. Unless you need more cores or multi-threaded performance for work tasks, just get a 9800x3D and be set.

Intel’s 14th gen, especially the 14900K/KF, had major degradation issues, although all of that is now supposedly solved, I still wouldn’t buy a 14900k over a 9800x3D.

The 9800X3d is for sure the best but how does it perform on editing and streaming? Also the degradation issue with the Intel worries me.

For a cpu amd all day, Nvidia is very prone to overheating. Opposite on graphic cards, Nvidia still holds strong there

If you go Intel and get a i7 14xxx chip, make sure you first apply all bios updates to your motherboard to prevent the CPU from degrading over time. Personally I like both Intel and AMD but I prefer how the Intel chips run a bit cooler.

go with the 9900X or wait till the 9900X3D release

What do you mean by “work”?

If it’s not anything too intensive or requires a lot of cores, just get the 9800X3D.

I’ve used Amd for years, the new ryzen chips can outperform similar intel cpus.

I’ve just switched from amd to intel. But that was only because I got impatient with no stock on the 9800X3D for weeks before and after Christmas.

Typically I would say the amd is better and more so for gaming. If you’re handling a lot of work flows, the i9 pushes slightly ahead.

But I base that off of research when I was upgrading, I’m no expert.

Personally I’d go for AMD because Intel is ummm…not exactly a great brand these days lol. At least when it comes to CPUs.

That said I don’t know what kind of workflows you’ll have going on so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Thank you all for your great input. I went with the AMD 9900.
