Could we possibly get more skill keys? Perhaps similar to D2R on PS5?

I’m just wondering if it would be possible to increase the number of available skill slots, especially for console? D2R is a great example of using Hold L2 and tap “X” to tigger corresponding skill or action. HAs there been any discussion with the devs regarding this, and if not how would one go about submitting this suggestion?

There been tons of people requesting it. I doubt it will happen though. The game is being balanced around having 6 skills and that isn’t likely to change anytime soon.

Ditto @KaZe, I think that’s one of those seemingly little things that would have a massive impact. If they did this I can tell you already the very next complaints would be:

  1. why are you making this like WoW, next thing you know I’ll have rows and columns of skills lining the screen!
  2. hey class X gets more benefit out of having their skills accessible all the time but my class Y has a bunch of skills too but it doesn’t help me in pvp or in nightmare dungeons, we need a skill rework!
  3. hey now that (for an example) I can fit a bunch of skills at once it’s not fun to play a rogue where I feel like it’s now required to have 1 point in every single imbuement skill so I have the flexibility to do each type depending on the boss/encounter, man I wish I had to think more about my build and that my decisions mattered!

That sounds way more sarcastic than I mean it to be (I intend 0% sarcasm, I promise). I think it’s just a prime example of something people think they want but they don’t truly want the experience that would inevitably follow. I think keeping it to a certain amount, while certainly probably influenced by controllers, is still a good thing ultimately. Feeling like “dang I wish I could fit just 1-2 more on there” makes you make the hard decisions about what you reeeeeally want to use in your build or rotation vs. just signing up for everything and trying to do it all.

I’ve seen a few discussions, but never like a question and response from Blizzard. Thanks for the feedback.

I don’t believe they have made a direct statement about it, but i think their silence is also somewhat telling. If they had any thoughts about it, they would likely have mentioned it in an interview at some point. Also, no problem.

I agree, their silence is telling. I’m just VERY much wanting at minimum a separate Ultimate Skill slot, but preferably a system similar to D2R.

We are presented with more choices than ever but only 6 slots to use. Meanwhile
You have ultimate skills with cooldowns long enough that you could and probably should run a utility skill in their place that will give you 2-4x uptimes plus buff your main damage dealing skills more than the ultimate itself.

The reality is ultimate skills aren’t optimum, despite them being called ultimate skills. I say we rename them to “above average at best” because that what they really are. They are in need of serious buffs if they really want me to slot them.

If you have, for example, 12 skills available, each with 6 power levels. Do you think you will do better with 10-12 skills at level 1, or 6 at level 2, or 3 at level 4, etc?

What happens when you get to end game and all the skills below power 5 have no effect on the mobs?

This system makes your choices matter, pick a specialty and own it, all the things that are not active skills make your active powers stronger, or make them different. Many of the people complaining don’t seem to understand that the passives are important, not just fluff.

6 skills would be fine I think, if they revamped the skills system. Right now, each individual skill have no real depth in customization to them, and they are too cooldown intensive as well as resource intensive, with very little in the way of customization in your resource generator. It makes for a very boring system, honestly.

What more is i wish that we had more skill POINTS. 58 seems low when you have 6 skills and passives. Each skill prolly gonna use 6 or 7 points each. Plus ultimate and passives. Wish we had more for sure. We get a TON of paragon points tho.

58? I thought there was 100 levels?

Nvm searched. I guess it’s 63 total? 48 from leveling and 15 from region challenges. That will make things difficult!

I feel like we have more than enough. They don’t want you to have everything. It is all about making the best choices for your build.

6 abilities is quite a bit of skill expression. Remember you also need to be using health potions and dodge so thats 8 already.

From a design point of view it makes sense. Personally i wouldnt mind the ultimate skill being its own slot but i font feel its necessary.

With weaving mechanics and endgame cooldows there will be more than enough difficulty if youre pushing yourself to do difficult challenges.

League of legends is one of the most popular games on the planet for over a decade with only aa + 3 skills + 1 ultimate and 1 passive class mechanic. Just emphasises reaction and your ability to avoid damage using clever micro-management.

Grim dawn has the illusion of many skills but its all passive buffs and maybe a cleanse you use once every half hour or very rarely. Lost ark has many skills but it takes forever to do rotations so it doesnt feel faster imo.

Locking us into 6 skills limits the balance of certain builds. If you rely on CC to make your way through hard content and get to a boss then your CC has now become a wasted skill. Even worse your power is diminished especially if you have put passive points into synergizing with CC damage.

Your other option then is to build tanky which will likely limit your usable battle skills even more as you will be constantly refreshing your buffs every 20-30 seconds which you slowly win the war of attrition against a boss with one builder and one spender.

Personally I’m looking for more than a 2 bottom game. I am against adding skills by using a shift function on one of the triggers though. Never liked that feature in any games. However dual inputs like L3+R3, LB+RB, Y+B and X+A feel a bit more natural to me and work well in other games with much smaller windows to react. The shift function always has that split second delay while it brings the other skill bars up.

That’s not to say I want 10 skills either, but the game needs 1-2 more to give more utility to the kinds of fighting they are asking us to do.

In my opinion, 6 skills is plenty. I have been using the skill calculators that are available online, and I really only need 5 skills for the build I want for my barb, but since the extra button is available, I put points into a 6th skill so I don’t have a dead button.

I get that some want to be able to have all the utility skills at their disposal but having access to too many skills at once dilutes build diversity because people will always pickup certain skills without thinking twice since they know they have extra capacity on their skill bar, which will lead to complaints that all builds are too similar due to the overlap.

As already stated by previous posters, the game is designed around 6 skills, so unless the devs decide to go back to the drawing board on skills, I doubt this will ever change.

couldnt agree with you more, at least for a barb that am playin, 4-5 skills is enough for me, but we will see how it is on higher levels
