Could be cool to separate interact/move and attack

Hello everyone,
i saw the button base attack/move/interact can be split into 3 shortcut, attack, interact and move. It could be cool to have interact and move on the same button and attack on another. Interact and move doesn’t overlap le same way as atatck i think. Well it’s a detail but it’s not a big implementation to make, it does not change anything to the game
To me the best way is the following rules :
- if i keep my mouse click down i keep move in the direction of my mouse (it’s it already that in most case)
- if i click on something where i can interact (like an item), i go there to interact but i have to realease the click to pick up the item (holding click will make me move)
- basic attack is another binding OR can only be triggered by hold position button

i know it’s my preference, i hope anyone preference can be met on the ergonomic side

I hope a dev will read this, have a good day everyone

i move with a key on a keyboard and attack with a mouse … its all in the game … and you dont even have to release the movement key to pick up items or attack

So you have a movement key and interact key on the same button and another key for attack (of course the movement/interact key doest trigger attack)

How did you do that ? All i see is attack/move/interact all at once or with 3 different keys

EDIT : by the way, i rather have to relese the button to interact only, it create distinct use of the mouse click, holind is moving and release allow interact, so you can’t miss click because of the position of the cursor (like an item wich appears just bellow your mouse so you go pick it and can’t redirect your movement before you pick it without release and click again), which can be deadly before you see see that your character isn’t doing what you want

agree this would be an improvement, good post, good feedback

attaching movement to attack can lead to accidental movements in erroneous directions, which is naturally a nuisance
of course precision of the relationship between input and character movement is VITAL to satisfying gameplay

If you want a dev to see it, give your feedback via the in-game Bug Report tool (don’t worry, you can choose between Bug Report and Feedback when you fill out the form).

Where? I tried to find keybindings so I could change them and was unable to find them at all!

Okay, thanks i will do it

i just use the dual function left click and press “attack in place” if needed.

havnt seen density thicc enough to make me want to use a force move button.

maybe if we get GRifts somewhere down the line heh

the free “dash” works alright for a mini force move.

It happened to me in a dungeon, i would prefer learn to play with consistent shortkey than play 50 hours and get in an end game where there is to much mobs to click in a free space.
So i guess you play with default keys
OFC the dash help

As a work-around, I asked AI to write me a script for AutoHotkey that presses the interaction button for me at the same time as the movement button. Hopefully, the devs will add this option in the future.

If you haven’t found it yet… In game, open the main menu, go to options, controls, in the gameplay section. The first item is/should be Combine Move/Interact/Basic Skill Slot. If you uncheck it, the basic skill becomes unbound and after skill slot 4, it will list move, then interact.

You can’t set any of them to be the same bind, so keep that in mind.

Please this is one of the most important qol change you can do let us move + interact only and not just move…

It’s honestly embarrassing that they released the game without being able to bind interact and move to the same button, without forcing attack too. Every other game seems to be able to get this right…
