Given the following set-up:
- I have D4 and VoH on PS5
- my brother has D4 but not VoH
- I boot the game from my account and my brother joins with his BNET account in a couch-coop session
What does the experience look like?
Are we both locked out of the VoH content until the couch coop session stops? Can he somehow play through VoH content even though he did not buy it?
Can he help me through the Citadel?
Actually, does the Citadel even work in couch co-op?

all good questions, def something for the next Q&A.
My best guess would be that you both are locked out of the expansion as long as you do the couch co-op, but yea, of course i cant know for sure.
I play a ton of couch coop on my PS5.
I own the game. When my wife plays it is ONLY couch coop. She does not own the game. She only logs in after my toon is logged in. She has no restrictions except her inability to play solo.
I assume VoH will work the same way.

oh? i didnt really know how that worked to be honest since im playing on pc. so you need to play with her. she cant play solo at all?
I know she cannot log in to the ps5 under her user and load up Diablo. It immediately directs her to purchase d4.
Im somewhat confident that she could
Log in with my user,
Log in to diablo under my toon,
Log in under her toon,
and then log out my toon
And that would allow her to play single player until she logs out, then she would have to repeat all of that.
… but i have no idea if it would kick her offline after 10 minutes or something. Weve never really tried it.
(Oh and she had to make a battle.net account and link it to her ps5 account to get this to work.)

you should try it at times. i mean these questions do pop up at times.
I tested it for you.
I logged in on my ps5 and logged in to diablo4.
I logged in to my character
I then turned on the second controller and logged into the wife’s account.
I logged into her character
I then grabbed the controller for player1 and logged my toon out by going to the game options and clicking “Leave Game”
My wife’s character was left logged in, looking just as it does when i play in single player mode.
I took a town portal from one city to another, forcing a loading screen to see if that would log her out. It did not.
I then walked away and did some household chores, wiggling her remote (giggity) every five minutes or so.
20 minutes later, she is still logged in.
Looks like it works, Nyurei. She can play solo without owning a second copy of the game.
… no one tell my wife. This game is too addicting.
