I get people want to dress up their toon and ride. So the skins and horse armor make sense. But what purpose do the backpacks serve? They do zero in game. Do I need it to carry snacks between dungeons?
Do you ever find yourself saying “damn look at that backpack on that character?”

Sounds like something only the dev team member could say. Honestly I don’t even like the horse armors. Some emotes are fine, but sheesh, most of the cosmetics are fugly.
Of course my take is subjective, but they do look rushed just like the game.
I had initially assumed that Backpacks would override items mounted on the back - ie. Barb weaps / Bows & Xbows.
Nope.
Clipping central. Poor wolf pup becomes some hybrid WolfBow~CrossWolf.
Or that they’d serve a purpose outside of purely cosmetic - again Nope.
Not a fan of item clipping anyway and when I dress up a Character(esp in D3) no matter how good something looks - if there’s excessive clipping then I’ll just use a different skin or tmog combo.
Would be nice if the Backpacks did serve as an option to somewhat ‘discretely’ hide items if we so chose(outside of the option to hide items in itself).
Likewise. In fact I rarely, if ever notice them. I’m long past even looking at other players at this point unless it’s something that catches my eye or I see an obvious pairing of players that gives me a chuckle.
Luminary Conjunction is actually the only one that caught my eye. Decent emote, nice back, grave is whatever. Most that I’m interested in for Sorceress just make her look like a clown.
Just pretend you do and say out loud “wow!” that will fix everything.
There’s a skin/outfit here or there that really catches my eye, most are fairly mundane or TOO much/Too loud for my taste - but I won’t spend money on such things.
What really tempts me though are the Tattoos and sadly they’re often bundled(just like the weapon Tmogs) with an (imo) overpriced package.
There’s always a catch - ‘don’t like the skin but oh those weapon skins!’ etc, but I’ll always be the 
that got away.
The thing about the weapon skins and pricing -
One spends all that money and the weapons don’t even have a nice gfx EFFECT …weird.
I wonder if the shop is a/the reason for the lack of Dyes. I personally feel there’s some missing dyes fwiw.
