Corrupted Data / BSOD - Install SSD becomes inaccessible

Trying out beta, but game gives corrupted data error after a while and corrupting the SSD where it’s installed, disabling the device. Restarting the PC makes the device reappear again. OS is Windows 11.

Scan and Repair doesn’t work.
Reinstalling doesn’t work.

Any help, please?

I have the same issue. After queue for 50 min, huge stutter for ~4 seconds immediately at character creation then crash with corrupted data. Drive was locked (steam client thought all my installs were gone), though rebooting pc fixed that. I was unable to scan and fix because of ‘something went wrong’ error. Still unable to scan, game is up to date, crashes with same error in same spot. Trying to reinstall to another ssd. I did not use primary drive. WIndows 10, Ryzen 9 5900X, evga 3080ti, 32gb ram, installed on m.2.

I’ve been having some hard drive related issues from the game as well.

Hard drive:
NVMe WD BLACK SN850 500GB (300GB free space)

Symptoms:
Client freezes and two blank “Data Error” pop-ups show.

Unable to access Diablo 4 folder on hard drive “Location is not available” until after restarting PC.

Tons of disk errors “51” in Windows Event Viewer.

Attempts:
Ran Windows CHKDSK command, with no errors.
Ran “Scan and Repair” in Battle.net launcher.

No resolutions at this point.

I noticed this being an issue and tried extensively to figure it out.

Pre-Notice Yes, I never even launched the game before updating to the newest launch-day GPU Driver for the game, I DDU’ed in SafeMode, ensured Windows did not Install a base Driver when restarting (System Properties / View Advanced System Settings - Hardware - Device installation Settings - NO), and explicity installed NVIDIA GeForce Experience and grabbed the latest Game Ready Driver Version 535.98 2023-05-30

The game seems to randomly Unallocate 1 Megabyte MB of storage right before / while crashing. This effectively seems de-partition that 1MB from the rest of the Volume Regardless of SSD Storage Over Provisioning or Performance settings.

Sometimes you may crash instantly on loading/Queue, may crash on the character select screen not even touching or selecting anything, may crash after selecting the Characters and clicking play, and may even crash randomly moment into playing or many minutes into playing the game.

It seems that when this happens the Corrupted data mentioned may be that 1MB that is not long available to the drive. Through Basic Windows Disk Partitioning there was no way to actively Extend the main Volume/Partition of the SSD to reclaim that 1MB un-allocated.

I’ve actively tried clearing/Deleting the ProgramData Battle net and Blizzard Entertainment Files/folders, Attempted “Updating” the game as it suggests in the
Battle net Launcher, attempted Scan and repairing the Game.

But, it either will give a “Whoops something went wrong Message” or being unable to find the target location error / it not existing in a weird inital case for me it was COMPLETELY Disconectting my drive.… weirdly though, where the Files would no longer be navigatiable via File Explorer nor CMD prompts Stating that the Location doesn’t exist… any location/folder/file on the drive. It would no longer Show in Samsung Magician (which is a consistent issue after the 1MB unallocates).

But, for some reason would still show the full partition as Online in Windows Disk Parititoning…

Tried Running in VARIOUS combinations all Blizzard / Battle net / Diablo IV - 4 Software / Applications as or not as Administrator regardless of my local accounts security settings, regardless of basic UAC, Regadless of File/Folder access security settings

I’ve additionally Deleted the ProgramData Battle net and Blizzard Entertainment Files/Folders, the installation path of the launcher; the game folders entirely, etc. Then went into Windows Uninstall and removed all lingering listings of any of the apps / software. Completely restarted the computer, reinstalled the Battle net Launcher, resintalled the game… and the same issues occured.

NO OVERLAYS were on, not a Battle net overlay, not a Discord overlay even if it were open or not, not steam overlays, no Rivatuner overlays, etc. All Services were set to bare-bones NVIDIA, Windows, Blizzard/battle net services if applicable, aside from audio service (Realtek / Creative Technology, or my FocusRite services). Additionally, to ensure most / if not all unecessary background processes were killed / stopped, I Used & also tested NOT USING specifically-explicitly-manually ONLY the program called “ProcessKiller” Version 1.0.0 (Details says 1.0)/ 2.0 (Whitelist.txt and the UI says 2.0) Provided ‘in’ Tronscript, Version 12.0.3 - reddit[DOT]com/r/TronScript , C:\Users\brand\Desktop\Tron v12.0.3 (2022-09-11)\tron\resources\stage_0_prep\processkiller\ by Reddit User reddit[DOT]com/user/cuddlychops06

I should note I only tried the Server Slam Beta before this and Had the SAME issue initally on the SAME Drive; however, Did not document what I did to ‘fix’ or stop the game from doing this before. It may have just fixed itself while still being on my 980 PRO.

I have since not being able to fix this after like 3 hours of troubleshooting, moved this to my C: Drive : (Local Disk) C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo IV

There is something wrong with the compatability of Samsung 980 Pro and diablo 4 or bcos diablo 4 cannot be installed in the Windows drive.

i had random bluescreen when installing diablo 4 in the Windows drive on my Samsung 980 Pro. After i reinstalled windows and change my game folder to my 2nd drive Samsung 970 evo, it’s working again.
