Corpses are used for everything. There’s apparently a limit to how many corpses can appear near you/within a dungeon (15 from what most people say). This is ridiculous, and gets egregiously more noticeable when your group splits up.
Necros already have a hard time generating resource energy, and now they’re gimped even more when your group splits, making them even less viable.
I leveled a necro to level 70 and it was already NOT fun for most of the time because resource generation sucks along with minions dying, but then as soon as I find a build that works, I find out that I can’t even use corpses cause they’re disappearing on my screen (my group splits up in dungeons a lot). Had to give up on necro and roll another class.
Why is it a thing that corpses are limited or disappearing in Diablo 4 when in Diablo 2, a game released in 2000-era tech could have technically up to ~30 minions on the screen at one time with multiple necros and endless corpses from almost every monster dying?

I’ve also noticed the corpses that “disappear” stick around visually for a bit longer then they’re actually physically there for which just adds to the confusion. It’s especially annoying when you’re in a big fight with corpses everywhere desperately trying to get more essence and half of them aren’t even real.

I don’t mind dispawning corpse when you have excessive corpse. The problem i have is the visual lasted for a while after they despawn and i found myself trying to consume corpse that is already despawn and nothing happened and then the visual of the corpse disappear.

Please fix this, the amount of times i tendril or explode a corpse and it disappears while my cursor is over it is infuriating.
There has to be some visual bug like chan and shape are saying where the corpses are ‘fake’ and only there visually.
Party members should not be able to generate corpses from kills if they’re not near you. This makes necro party play almost impossible for split runs, necro has a bad enough reputation as it is this is ridiculous.

This is extra fun when they’re dissapearing literally jsut before you click on them. "Oh I’ll use that one for a corpse tendril That’s why I moved over here and … it’s gone. Oh Ineed to res/heal my skeles I click on … why is nothing happening? OH it’s gone. Why did you just disable the mechanics that is the core theme of the class? Oh you’re gone and not listening?

I do not really get that.
My minions rarely died (and i did not even put anything in survival skills for them) and using corpses with corpse explosion or healing skeletons fills up my mana.
I rarely lacked corpses, because the skeleton warrior provide more than enough. It did happen that a corpse vanished, right when i wanted to click on it. Which is terribly annoying.
That fire enchated elite, which explodes several times after dieing, that usually wipes out most of my minions. And that is a problem. Apart from that, enemies on my level are almost a piece of cake.
I early on searched for all altars and did the full renown crap. Maybe it worked out for me because of the boni i got through that.
PS: Played until lvl65.
This is an issue only in groups, as a solo player you wont encounter this bug because only you will be killing stuff and generating corpses.
Theres a limit to how many corpses you can generate, and your party members generate corpses on kill as well. Group up with someone, preferably a full group and do a dungeon split run, you will see instantly your corpses are disappearing as your teammates kill stuff away from you.

It’s an issue for solo too — when aiming to go faster/group up larger mobs if I backtrack to tendril at the end of a chain I’ve generated so many corpses already that the corpse behind the pack becomes a miss-click and a major issue on repositioning if cooldowns aren’t already back up

Can also attest I’ve encountered this both solo and in groups. Add it to pile of bugs with necro. Really feels like blizzard released an unfinished class, with no testing and no real idea of how it should work.

Not true. I play completely solo and it happens to me all the time. Every big fight there’s a bunch of corpses that stick around visually but aren’t actually real.

This happened all the time when you kill things too fast, maybe the problem will disappear in higher tier NM dungeon when you can’t kill group fast enough? not sure.
I came here to see if anyone else has been having this issue. Doesn’t matter how many mobs I’m killing or anything. They just randomly disappear when I try to consume or won’t let my tendrils cast off them. It’s pretty annoying when I die in 50+ NM dungeons because every corpse I try to cast tendrils or explosion on disappear and don’t trigger the cast.
It’s definitely something that started recently. I don’t think I started experiencing this issue until this past weekend maybe?

I agree I also have solo issues but the problem is a hundred fold in a party, your party members generate corpses on kill from screens away and you hit the corpse limit fast.
The visual bug when you hit the corpse limit, with the fake corpses needs to be fixed.

I think corpses consumed by bonestorm aspect also cause this issue. I’ve noticed when my bonestorm is actively eating corpses this happens often.
In a room full of corpses bone storm will eat exactly the corpses I try to use every damn time.
This is still a major issue, me and 2 friends who all roll Necro, have had corpses disappearing in front of us inside and outside dungeons, we can’t even do NM dungeons together or split up because the corpses have a max limit for the dungeon… Fix this crap. They vanish almost instantly sometimes…

I play solo and this happens even if there is only one corpse on screen for a short time.
Keep suggesting your experiences, but don’t gasslight others about their own experience.
