This is making me want to quit the game in general… in a dungeon where you can only die up to 4 times, I get one shotted by these things OFF SCREEN! The stupid Corpse Bows are absolutely bonkers.
there are other things that can one shot but I have absolutely NO clue what they are because there are so many monsters on the damn screen that I have no way of seeing the attacks.
In a dungeon where you can only die 4 times this is ludicrous.
It is great the game might encourage players to get more defensive stats. Albeit with the paltry death penalties in SC, I dont think it accomplishes that. Should really change. 4 deaths per NMD is great (if they fix the group issue where deaths arent counted at least), but it just isnt enough.
In any case, stuff should not attack from outside the screen view.
That is a real problem for sure.
I’ve said it before the recent monster density increase too… but there should be less monsters, not more, and each monster should matter for in combat. Make things more dangerous, but also more readable.
That said, you do also have some influence yourself on how many enemies are on the screen. You can try to separate enemies, spread them out forcefully etc.
Sadly the game discourages that behavior currently, due to AoE effects being too powerful.
even running tier 100 i dont get 1 shot because i have damage resistance and use defensive skills. i mean even a sorc doesnt get 1 shot if they build properly and have proper stats.
I keep a list of of my favorite NMD and only run them. I usually have no issue with just one or two corpse bows. But there was one NMD (ANcient Resovoir) that had a room with so many corpse bows shooting at you from different angles everywhere that there was no way I could avoid them. I simply added it to the not do list and carried on.
All of the below Affixes and attributes are really really high and still having problems as Barbarian.
Armor
DR% (All)
DR% Ranged
DR% Close
DR% while Fortified
%Total Armor
%Max HP Rubies
Barrier
Dodge
Strength
Iron Barb Elixir
DR investment in Skills
Even adding Conditional DR like Might, Iron Warrior, Disobedience, Quake and Paragon Glyphs, still getting rocked in High NMD especially against Quill Rats, Corpse Bows, Wraiths, and Wasps. I am getting one-shot from a lot of enemies. Despite my Barbarian being 84 atm, NMD 60 is about the cap I can push solo. Not really seeing how I am going to gain much more Survivability from here to 100 to be able to fight enemies another 40 levels past what I am now…
There are very few A and S tier NM dungeons that have corpse bows. You should know which ones have it like Nostrava Deepwood. That means you adjust and stay mobile in those dungeons. Make use of cover. If you are getting hit, you are standing still far too long. You should almost never get hit by one.
I have level 95 sorc with almost 10k life and 6k armor and damage reduction on gear and NM70 the corpse bows will one shot me from off screen cause you don’t have 100% uptime on Ice armor or flame shield and if no stacks from Icefall board for barrier, its one shot.
I think i’d be happier if enemies did less damage but we had less options for recovering health. Getting 1 shot by stuff off screen sucks. Constantly hovering over an endless supply of health pots to stop yourself from being 2 shot also sucks.
Potion refills should be very rare outside of the guaranteed boss ones.
It is such a common issue in A-RPG design.
If healing is free and endless, the only counter is oneshotting.
This has already been solved in other games, such as Souls games, and D4 got part of the Souls potion system, with a limited amount of potions going into a dungeon.
Now the refills just need to be addressed.
