Cooldown Reduction isnt right

So the problem is, i don’t get the CDR (Cooldown Reduction) i’m supposed to get. I dont know why i cant use links or upload picture… thats kinda dumb, but i got a Helm with 14,0% CDR and my Amulet got 10,6% CDR. 14,0+10,6=24,6% right? Well, the game telling me i have 23,2% CDR with both pieces, but if i unequip one of them, its right.
The helm gives me the 14% and the Amulet gives me the 10,6%, but together they grant me 23,2%, whats that?

Would love to have a quick hotfix on that, since its a bit gamebreaking for some builds.

The formula for CDR, RCR, DR, etc is:

CDR = 1 - [(1 - CDR1%) * (1 - CDR2%) * (1 - CDR3%) * (1 - CDR4%)…]

Using that formula, I get 23.116% CDR from 14% and 10.6%.

The reason it is like that is so that you can never reach 100%.

I dont understand that formula…
I tried to link the picture, but it said links arent allowed… :frowning:

Did you highlight the link and then press the </> button? It will not allow you to post live links. It will look like this: https://i.imgur.com/2nwpJ1V.png

This is the formula and how it works:

Imagine you have a skill with a 100 sec cooldown.
  • Then you get a piece of gear with 50% cooldown. The skill now has a 50 sec cooldown.

  • Then you get another piece of gear with 50% cooldown. So you remove 50% of the remaining 50 secs. The skill now has a 25 sec cooldown.

  • You have 75% Cooldown from 50% and 50%.

Alr thank you! I kinda think this is really messed up, since they also could simply make a CDR Limit, instead some weird äss calculation bullsh’t, but well… it is, what it is, right?

I think it does exactly what it says.

Imagine it is Damage Reduction instead of CDR, where 100% is the cap and you would no longer take any damage if you had 100%.

  • Then let’s say you get a piece of gear with 90% damage reduction, so now you take 100 dmg from a hit of 1,000 HP.

  • Then you get another piece of gear with 90% more damage reduction. Now you take 1/10th of what is left, so you take 10 dmg from the 100 HP that is left over.

You are getting the full 90% from your second piece of gear. It was 100 HP before, and now it is 10 HP.

If you get another piece with 90% DR, then you take 1 HP dmg from a hit of 1,000.

1 - [(1 - 0.9) * (1 - 0.9) * (1 - 0.9)] = 99.9%

I kinda dont understand, why would you make such examples, since i said “there should be a CDR Limit”. It cant be more simple than that… ^^

For example 40% Limit and done, you cant get higher than that.
Same for Damage Reduction.

and its obviously really confusing, since i didnt know why its not like 24,6% and then you came up with some formula and no average player will know anything about some formula. there isnt any formula for that in game, so its really irritating and people (me included) dont understand, whats happening there and expect this to be a bug.
It would be better to cap it, instead of some weird formulas, which dont even exist in the game, so no one can even understand, how its even calculated.

I suppose it can be confusing if you are not familiar with it. That is how it is calculated in D3, so I think that most D3 players would be familiar with it.

I was playing D3 aswell and never knew that^^
