So, I was in the end of a dungeon and my controllers battery died, unfortunately when it re-connected with new batteries, I was unable to control my character again, it just kept trying to assign the controller to an account, but I was already signed in as I was playing, which caused me to have to dashboard,close the game and re-open the game, which lost my progress within the dungeon.
Same here, had to restart game, luckily i wasn’t in any dungeon (just exploring world).
Additional what i noticed was, game didn’t popup any error or window which says something like “Your controller was disconnected”, so it will be nice if in final product this will be added.
For devs (if they see this) to reproduce this issue:
- in game just turn off your controller (unplug or just remove batteries);
- turn on your controller;
- try to press any key and it will always ask you to choose your xbox account to sing in (doesn’t matter which key you will press)
P.s. sorry for my broken english.
I think this is a common XBOX issue and not just for Diablo IV. I have the same issue when playing Minecraft Dungeons. In such cases i pick up a second controller, turn it on and it connects.
I’ve never had that issue until this game
Same here. First time had this issue. I even bought a new controller, yet still the problem exists. Please fix it! Really into this game. Make it better!
Has this been resolved with a fix do you know? It happens to me every day! So annoying!!
I know this is older post but I’m going to bump this post because something similar has happened to me once in the preseason and now twice in season 4. It’s an issue that has only happened with Diablo.
My controller batteries died while fighting the hell tide maiden. I put in new batteries. the controller connects for a second then it says the controller is disconnected. Plugging in the controller with a USB cable doesn’t work, syncing the controller doesn’t work, swap out the batteries again doesn’t work, closing and reopening Diablo doesn’t fix it and even a soft shut down of the Xbox didn’t do anything. When I turn the Xbox back on it recognizes the controller until I open Diablo and then it says controller is disconnected and there’s no input.
the only way to solve this was to power off the Xbox completely by holding down the power button longer, and unplugging the power cord from the back of the Xbox.
It seems like when the batteries die during gameplay the whole console glitches out. Sucks when this happens because you can lose a lot of progress; loss of materials to summon bosses, or nightmare sigils depending on what you’re doing.
It would be nice to leave our characters in a pending game state so we can return to the game when this happens or potentially just fix the cause of this.
