I’ve recently switched to using my xbox controller on PC, mostly to save my wrists and fingers from crippling RSI.
I’ve noticed a few comical issues like your mount not going as fast as mouse/kb users who double gallop, I’ll put that down to a constrained “virtual cursor” that doesnt extend to the edge of the screen for that speed boost.
Theres another glitch/bug where sometime after dodging, you can’t use any actions or move, wrangling the stick makes your character turn and face that direction but you cannot move. Theres no immobilised icons above my head, and no mobs nearby that could possibly root me in place. It just seems to forget to move at points during gameplay until you dodge again, (lucky I have 4 charges, sheesh).
One of my biggest gripes however is skipping the intro Diablo 4 screens pressing the A button only to be greeted by the title screen where if you press A once more, it exits the game as the “Exit Game” button is the default ( and only button interactable on the screen). Maybe make that NOT the default button/menu item selected on booting the game up or change the button to exit from A to B or something. Anything other than A to proceed also equals A to exit immediately after.
Inventory management. It just doesnt exist on controller. i’ve attempted to “organise” my stash by “moving” items and none of it works or is intuitive. the “move to different tab” doesn’t work or is so mind bogglingly counter intuitive that it makes no sense what it is the UI wants me to do. I find myself constantly having to lean forward and use my mouse to sort stuff. Feels like a broken feature that could be removed and no one would miss it, or fixed and made to be infinitely more useful. Having the ability to move items manually and sort them into rows for gear sets would be really nice (especially with the 4 stash tab issue and 5 classes nonsense you got going on right now). I mean wtaf right?
Some builds are made infinitely easier with controller ( corpse explosion necro for example) with corpses being practically auto targeted being a godsend however, other builds like Pulverslide druid straight up dont work as you cant really target “through” mobs to get the full effect of the build in all its glory. Maybe look into some form of like “full-send” option for abilities that target them as far as they’ll go without locking onto mobs specifically. I believe that option would also fix the mount speed issue referred to earlier.
Aside from that, controller button remapping is nice, the action feels good when its working 100% for both melee and casters. My wrists, fingers and back are thanking you for having controller support but, it needs a little QoL and some improvement.
