Controller is broken, AGAIN

Same here. No issues. Xbox controller off of BNET.

Only issue I have is my character briefly gets stuck after dashing. I think that’s a controller thing, because the same thing happens when I switch between mouse and controller sometimes.

Well 2 different dualsense exact same issue so…I don’t know I don’t think it’s just me, there are other people with exact issue too reporting on PC bug forum.

Which version of the game do you have Battle.net, or via Steam? If it’s via Steam, disable Steam Input for Diablo 4. If it is the Battle.net version, if you have DS4Windows or another type of driver installed that has the capability to control your dual sense controller, you need to disable or uninstall the driver. The latter is preferred to keep this from happening again but you can disable/re-enable relatively easily as well.

Diablo 4, like Diablo 2: Resurrected, has both XInput and DirectInput support, and will use these controllers natively. But if you have any software that also interacts with these controllers and that software is active while D4 is running, conflicts will happen.

Also, as an additional troubleshooting step, check your button binds. I haven’t used my controller with D4 yet because unlike with D2R it just doesn’t feel as good, but it’s possible you’ve got a “doubled up” button bind issue happening as well. Changing the binds or resetting them to defaults and then readjusting them might actually help. Think of it as the “reset UI” version of controller troubleshooting.

Battle net D4, not using ds4windows or other drivers, its just native dualsense plugged into pc thats it. Controller firmware is updated via ps5 to latest.

i have also reset keybinds, I suspected that it is the new touchpad function they added to the dualsense, it was not enabled previously but it is now suddenly, and I dont see a way to disable it…

EDIT: Wow I just tried with steam closed and it worked, wtf…dont they have a steam version? this is pretty ridiculous…i guess i have to close steam everytime i play d4…

You could also disable Steam Input by default and then enable it on a per-game override where necessary if you need to leave Steam open. That might let you have the best of both worlds. But yeah, it’s best to have Steam closed just so you don’t have issues with other games. D4 in particular doesn’t like it when browsers are left open at the same time and Steam is a fork of Chromium.

Did just that, I’m disabling it in general now

There probably something you can do to fix it.

I use a ps5 controller, own d4 on battle.net but typically launch it through steam. I don’t have any problems.

There is probably something else going on.

Good luck.

I’m glad you got your problem fixed.

FYI, these did not fix my controller issue. Still broken.

Too many Chicken Nugs. Them Banquet blue label ones. The Breading is Nanites. Eats what it touches.

I think I have found a fix for a glaring issue.
If you have steam, and even if closing steam out does not resolve your controller issue in D4 (even when not using steam to launch bnet or d4), you should disable the non-game controller layouts in steam.

As of 7/14/2024, it is found in the following way:

  • In the Steam App, Click Steam, then Settings
  • In the left menu, click Controller, then scroll to the bottom of the Controller settings pane
  • In the non-game controller layouts, click the gear icon for Desktop Layout. This should open a new window for controller settings for the ‘app’ Desktop Layout.
  • On that screen, disable the input for this ‘app’. Closing this window will save it. You can close the other windows and should be able to get controller input back.

Theory of the issue: The virtual cursor would slide out of the active window to the desktop, switching from the in game controller to the desktop app controller, removing it from the game.

I use Lenovo Legion go
It’s classified as X box controller the for the detachable joy sticks
No issue so far

Bumping. Stuff broken. Blizzard management is bad.

I’ve had my Xbox controller for ages chief works just fine

Time for a new controller?

DualSense.

I have literally every major console controller since the PS3 era and prefer the DualSenese. I’ve gotten it working via DS4Widnows and emulating a XBox controller.

Also works for literally every game on Steam. This is a D4 PC problem specifically and has been for a LONG time (probably since launch?)

my ps5 dualsense works fine on my pc. its all i have ever used since d4 launch.

I swapped the interact button to R3. Replaces zoom. Takes some getting used to, but makes it so interact isnt paired with attacks/abilities and fixes a lot of those problems.

Just realized this was a necro thread haha.
Either way, if youre still having those annoyances. This helped me!

You guys need to try the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro. Xbox might as well make that the official controller.

I have the old version that was wired and it would disconnect randomly due to the USB port. Every Razer thing I’ve bought has usually had quality issues. Maybe just my luck but no Razer for me; this is over 10 years of random Razer things.

its steam input. Disable it.

Had the same exact problem when steam was running the background and I was running Diablo off the Bnet launcher.
