I hope they add a settings option to toggle off the default auto targeting on controller and allow you to free aim.
Essentially have it work the same as when there is no available targetable enemies or barrels near you (where you attack in the direction you are moving/facing). You would still have the option to R3 (right thumbstick) click for hard lock targeting.
I personally feel like having the options of free target and hard target would play infinitely better on controller vs just having auto target or hard lock. It is a bummer trying to trample through a group of enemies you are running towards just for auto target to last second target a barrel or distant enemy forcing you to miss the whole group… Or have an enemy move last second completely throwing off your intended aoe attack. At the very least they could change the movement skills (leap, teleport, trample, etc.) to work this way.
