How long do you guys/gals think continued support for D4 by Blizzard will last? 1 year? 5? 10?
I want hard guesses not “Do this and this will happen.” Hard guesses number-wise that factor in your personal belief of what the results will be.

Season 3 will be the end. After that content will be scrapped and put into the expansion.
Season 4 until Expansion will be “QoL”
If expansions flops, game will be left and renamed to Diablo 3.1 or Diablo 3 Remastered
And I want people to stop asking stupid questions. I guess we are both going to be disappointed.
There are no stupid questions only stupid answers we learned this in pre-k.
i think they planned something like 5-6 years (5-6 exp) and after 7-8 years d5
Think they’ll reach it?
i dont know anymore

As long as they have people like this the game will go on.
I will never spend a penny on the Battle Pass or the Shop. But I will get the expansions.
People cried about D3 just like they do with D4, yet Blizzard supported D3 for over 11 years.
More power to him lol.
I think it kind of depends on how things go with retention but for perspective, Diablo III sold around 12 million copies by the end of the first year and if you take the billion dollars figure and divide it by the price of the standard edition, Diablo IV is probably about on par. That’s hard to say exactly without knowing the ratio of what actually sold, but napkin math says the two games had about the same numerical success early on.
I think it depends on whether they can get people playing again or not. They failed to do it in D3 until Reaper of souls, by that time Blizzard had already cancelled the second expansion.
I wouldn’t be very surprised by early abandonment if they can’t get the playerbase back though… Mostly, “early abandonment” just meaning no more expansions ~ they will probably keep seasons and things rolling until the next game.
well two expansions are planned with a year inbetween each, so id assume at least 3 years. considering it was also mentioned that a d5 wont take a decade like usual, id say i assume 5-6 years
Depends on how you define support.
Some kind of patching; probably at least 10 years.
RoS saved D3 and the entire diablo franchise. We are nowhere close to the debacle that D3 was in D4 lifetime. We are panicking bigtime but its kinda overblown. WE need to at least see 3 more seasons before we make a conclusion. That being said we are not in a good spot right now. The entire game has massive issues. I mean loading other ppl stashes? How did that ever make it into the game? How can you go 4 months with broken aspects?
I am happy you have a friend.
Full support? 2 more seasons. Pretend support like OW2, hearthstone, and HOTS get? Maybe another 2 years.
They gotta sell people the broken parts of the game via an expansion first, then they can abandon it and point to D5.
Repeat again.

well from how you describe it, it seems to work. you keep falling for it ![]()
Nah, bnet has been uninstalled since week 2. Just here to watch the world burn.
Given the hard monetization attempts with the shop and the fact that something like 5-15% of people will stick with the game come hell or high water, I suspect that even if the game somehow never got better (which won’t be the case), you’d still see support for a few years, easy. Despite the complaining, still better than what we got with D3 on launch, and with much more ambitious plans moving forward. I think it’ll be at least 4 years of mandatory support on the backs of 3 planned expansions (they have to be realized in order to set up the canon for Diablo 5, which happens whether people like it or not), and after the moaning dies down as the game gets more fleshed out, it’ll probably rock steady for another few years minimum besides. Rumors of death are much exaggerated even if the more fickle elements of the playerbase have indeed moved on for good. ![]()
At the very least three more years. First expansion will release next year and then the second the year after with seasons in between. After that it’s anyone’s guess. If the game has pulled the nose up and is holding steady at good numbers then I could see it going a few more years and expansions. If the numbers aren’t there after the first two expansions, then it will be just light seasons until D5.
