Constructive Feedback on Midwinter's Blight

Finally got a chance to play tonight. Scanning the forums it seems like some of the feedback is very shallow and/or a bit vitriolaic.

What I am not going to recommend:

  • Increase in difficulty: This event is aimed at a very low barrier to entry, as such, I won’t suggest such thing as that. With that said, I would love a way to adjust the instanced difficulty in the world for your character (example: Scroll of +5 difficulty)

  • Suggest some significant power end goal: Again, this is aimed at a broad audience including “weekend warriors”

What should be changed/added in future or current holiday events:

  • Higher Density: The density is the same as a normal zone. We should feel like a blight has overtaken the world. This world is already dark and dangerous so to elevate to a “blight” status it should probably be 2x-3x density.

  • Surprise Attacks: There should be more surprise attacks form the enemy. Uncovering from the snow to slay the hero. Other zones have these and events need more of these

  • Unique music and tones. In addition, I’d prefer more unique style monsters for the event.

  • Additional World Boss: A themed World Boss that is more difficult by some %. For Season 2 it wouldn’t matter because you have 2 builds that just shred single-target monsters; however, there should be something more “world-defining” in these events

Event Themed - Not the Actual Event:
In addition, the theme rewards I’ll be contrary and say I think they’re fine in quality but could REALLY use more flavor in my opinion. This flavor issue also extends to the paid cosmetics. Look at the Druid released a week-ish ago that had a huge winter theme. That was on-point and if I was playing Druid in this season I would have bought it. The paid store cosmetics are clean but lack any flavor. Outside of the mount and Rogue (I think), and I am being generous, they look like skins that could have been released in March without an eye-brow raise.

Extra:
I think these events should come to Eternal as well imo. No consequence for me either way, as I do seasons, but there is no reason to not have these in both places

Edit:
Add something Xmas to the post:

Like someone said. This event was definitely chopped off from the beginning of season 2 to brand it out as a “Mid-Winter” event. I totally agree with you.

Another big miss I feel like after having more time last night are “elf-ish Treasure Goblins” of some kind. The injured villagers seem to fill this role some - having gotten a number of legendary items and 2 uniques off of them; however, I still feel like we should see elf-ish treasure goblins with some insane loot drops.

I am gonna chime in a little too:

We can use some random event like xmas goblin rush, suddenly for 1 minute randomly, everything in that zone becomes xmas goblin, 10x the density and spawn a xmas butcher as their “boss”.

You don’t have to drop anything significant, just a festive transmig of some sort that’s it, keep it light spirited, it’s the holiday right?

I just want a chuckle here and there through out this dark and grim game, this had been a tradition in the past and Blizzard has completely lost this charm in d4, unfortunately.
