I have been consistently getting this “Reconnecting to Diablo IV” error message in-game and it will never reconnect.
Whenever it happens, i cannot interact with any NPCs and open the world map.
When i attempt to leave game to resolve it, the game client will crash to desktop and i have to relaunch it.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Does anyone have any solution?
Yup, I seem to have the same issues. I have not been able to play since the vessel of hatred update. We have two PC’s in our home that could previously run Diablo fine. On both of them we get Network Disconnect error messages constantly. (after character select). The error message is "The game connection has been lost: your client has been disconnected from the server. In the left top corner there is often a message stating: Reconnecting to Diablo IV, but it never succeeds in reconnecting.
Had the same issue. Tip I got from another player that helped – was to open the D4 directory and rename the “dsstorage.dll” each launch. /Sucks, but seems to work.
do yourself a favor instead of renaming, disable it via launchparameter

getting the same error over and over again since launch of S6/VoH. Mostly while porting to a Town - does not matter if a random or a favorite one.
Sometimes the message does not even pop up, instead game just goes blackscreen while only rendering Health and Ressource Globes…
i to keep getting disconnected from server… about 10x today. ive wasted about a dozen more xp bonues. called ISP and they say all is good… connection is beyond good… yeap im writing this now because this is about the 12th time today… so i have time… waiting for game to find character so i can log back in. please fix!! windows 10… this is unreal. at first i thought my movement speed was insane… nope… game is frozen!
Its getting worse and worse with their network. First all the crashes every 2h a lot of player are experiencing since VOH and myself too and now network disconnects and or Reconnecting to Diablo 4 since today.
How would one go about doing this?
I can’t even get to the character selection screen “Logging into Diablo IV” takes a long time then I finally get the loading screen with tips but then it just shows a message “Reconnecting to Diablo IV” and I’m unable to see my character. This started happening today after the first patch and now that we got another patch the problem still exists. The game ran fine on Friday.
UPDATE: Deleting the Diablo IV folder under Documents solved my problem of not being able to make it to the Character Select screen. Now I just have to deal with the “Reconnecting to Diablo IV” message when starting in town.
I tried this and I still get the disconnection issue. Thank you for suggesting something. I contacted the blizzard support and they said just to look at the message board. What a help that was.

Getting same issues myself since Friday morning Eastern Time. Every 10-15 min I get “Disconnected from Game”. Tried all the tricks folks have been suggesting on this thread and others. And not a single GD blue post. For real Lizzard, for real…

Unfortunately, this is only affecting some users, like yourself.
This isn’t a large issue, but a much smaller conditional one.
I would suspect it has more to do with the game not liking something with your config that its having issue with.
Especially with sound. You aren’t the only one that has had to turn of music/sounds to fix things and the crossplay option has been ongoing since the game launched.
I myself have absolutely no issues with either of those things. Doesn’t cause my system to go bonkers at all.
If this issue was as big as your caps are trying to indicate, trust me a lot more people would be posting about it.
But that’s my take on this particular issue.
