Consistent Game Crashes

The game is consistently crashing and giving me Fenris error codes. There is no rhyme or reason to when it is crashing that I can determine. Sometimes I can play for 5 minutes, sometimes 2-4 hours. However, this morning is has been much more frequent. (not sure if the latest update has anything to do with it) Windows is completely updated, as well as all my drivers. I have already tried turning off Chroma effects in the localpref file as well as running the game in safe mode. I’ve tried running the game as admin and not, no difference. I even deleted every single Razer file from my system thinking the peripherals were causing an issue, no change. When I look in the error reports they all are listing the error c0000005 Access Violation so I’m assuming something is trying to run or interject with the game that is causing an issue. I have no idea, and I am not super savvy with these types of things. I’m not sure what else to do but this is incredibly frustrating. Please help. Let me know if you need anything else from me. I can’t attach the error files here it seems but I have them if there is a way to send or link them in this forum.

The error that keeps appearing in the crash report:
UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005) at:
DBG-OPTIONS<NoAddress NoFuncOffset NoImage>
DBG-ADDR<00007FF9F8ED2D54>("amdxc64.dll")
DBG-OPTIONS<>

Howdy Caleb,

It looks like something is causing a conflict with the graphics but it’s difficult to tell what that may be exactly. I would suggest going through these steps to help narrow down the problem.

Thanks for the help

This seem to help my crash problem for now.

You should pin this solution, A lot of people have this crash problem since 2-3 days ago.

Which step exactly was it that fixed it?

Same issue here. Only been happening since this morning.

My error:
UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005) at:
DBG-OPTIONS
DBG-ADDR<00007FF7B6DF8A00>(“Diablo IV.exe”)
DBG-OPTIONS<>

Im getting the same issue. Was working great last night, this morning, the game constantly crashes at start up.

Updated my drivers too, I have NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER

Well,
I’ve just done the above as suggested by Zen.
Also reset my ram speed to it’s stock clocks, i had overclocked my 32gigs some time ago.

Aaaand played the game for about two and a half hours. No crash.

I’ve read other posts of people saying go back to stock ram speeds if you’ve previously overclocked it.

Logged in today after work and made it all the way thru the first dungeon, got poisoned by the locals in the Tavern, and was being carted away and the game crashed.

I suspect it’s a memory leak. I changed my texture quality from Ultra to High and monitored VRAM usage in HWinfo on my 11gb 2080ti. Went from 56% usage to 98% usage before crashing in the 5th dungeon of the play session. With Ultra I can get to 2, maybe 3 dungeons before crashing.

The interesting part is the Fenris dump indicates that there is plenty of memory left in my system:

Virtual Mem Total: 37550.65 MB
Virtual Mem Used: 27289.34 MB
Virtual Mem Used by Process: 19286.92 MB
Phys Mem Total: 32686.65 MB
Phys Mem Used: 13894.21 MB
Phys Mem Used by Process: 5720.30 MB

But the error UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005) is either a rogue pointer or memory unavailable for the pointer.

Either way, its poor coding from a team that, otherwise, did a fantastic job.

Restarted my PC, logged into Battle dot Net, launched Diablo IV, it put me at the point where you crawl out of the first dungeon, and immediately crashed to the desktop.

Fenris Error: 5E49D26E-D1DF-4949-A50E-3F61009D70E6

same here, i cant play like this

blizzard support will just tell you it’s a problem with your pc and ignore you

Just wanted to follow up with a possible solution that has worked for me so far. I went into my BIOS settings and set my xmp profile back to the default settings. Haven’t had a game crash in the last 12+ hours over the last week or so. I’m happy to be playing uninterrupted but, I have to be honest I’m am disappointed that this is an issue. I shouldn’t have to throttle my ram speed to make this game work. Please work on these issues so we all can get what we paid for out of all this expensive PC hardware.
