Conjuration is the best sorc spec with low gear requirements

LVL 79 NM 100 Clear

LVL 100 NM 100 Clear

INTRO

Hydra is one of the strongest sorcerer specs in the game right now and here’s why you should try it:

  • Low/no gear requirements
    • Since hydra damage scales with enemy levels, hydra can do high amounts of damage
in high NM dungeon with little to no gear
  • Only a few required aspects
    • +1 hydra is really the only required aspect as it effectively doubles your DPS
  • Push high NM content early

The build is incredibly flexible and you can customize it based on your levels, gear and playstyle.

Now with every build there are weaknesses and the major downside of playing conjuration is that lower-level nightmare dungeons (NM60s and below) take longer to do since hydra burn damage scales with enemy levels. It is particularly time consuming when you are boosting people as the mob HP gets doubled or tripled but your damage stays the same. That being said, clear times are not THAT bad, especially if you make some small tweaks to your build i.e. adding frozen orb as an enchant to help with the lower dungeon clear speeds.

SKILLS, PARAGON & EQUIPMENT

I specifically built the skill tree and paragon boards to be as tanky as possible. I don’t get one shot by non-telegraphed attacks other than off screen corpse bows when I don’t have any barriers up.

Active Skill Bar

  1. Teleport – Unstoppable, mobility, positioning, this spell does it all. If I had extra skill points to spare, I’d max this out.
  2. Fire Shield – Invincibility on a relatively short CD
  3. Lightning Spear – Crowd Control / stuns the whole room with aspect of shared misery
  4. Frost Nova – Vulnerable + CC
  5. Ice Blades – Lowers CDs of other skills / extremely high lucky hit chance rate and almost guaranteed to proc frost nova from enchantment
  6. Hydra – Main damage dealer, spam cast hydras for extra dps as the hydras attack on each cast

Synergies

  • While I think Exploiters Aspect is amazing in this build (+20% CC time / x40% dmg vs unstoppable monsters), I think Penitent Greaves is BIS when combined with my paragon board. Penitent Greaves has a unique ability to chill and adds x10% dmg vs chilled targets. I specced my paragon for a whooping 42% DR vs chilled. Combined with aspect of shared misery, the whole room gets chilled and I get a massive DR boost

Enchantments * Currently running Fireball / Frost Nova HOWEVER this spot is extremely flexible and I have ran Frozen Orb / Ice Blades in the past

Nice. I run a Conjurer Sorcerer as well. I am more on the tanky side of things. Let Hydra burn the enemy and outlive the mobs.

Lower tier isn’t really a problem even if Hydra doesn"t scale much. You can take more aggressive Paragon nodes / glyphs / aspects. The more you go up, the more you can switch that around to a more defensive ones because Hydra will now take over in terms of damage. Add Barber and you’re ser

Honestly I don’t really care much about the lower levels and leveling. As long as it gets done. The end goal for me is level 100. It doesn’t matter to me if I run fast or slow in lower tiers, while leveling. What matters to me is the end goal at 100. My Ice Shard sorc easilu cruise the lower tiers in Eternal but sucks at the endgame. Stucked at tier 70s back in Eternal.

Since these forums won’t let me link my maxroll page, i’ve linked it on both youtube vidoes.

So for me I boost friends / get boosted a lot so that’s why I mentioned the lower lvl NMDs as being a potential issue. To solve for this, I spec into frost orb & fireball and ditch some defensiveness since these dungeons aren’t dangerous for me at all. As for lvling, the best way to lvl is to run NMDs that you can blast through… my Druid can do a Sarat’s 60 in 2mins… i average about 20 Sarat 60s in an hour and that gets me about 1.5 lvls in the 90s. I only mention this because I hate leveling and I try to be as efficient as possible.

When I was leveling my Sorc, I actually enjoyed it because it was my first time doing Conjuration. I get to understand what works and not. I was a die hard Ice Shard. I wasn’t rushing but I was fast enough for a solo player.

But if you ask me now to level again from start, I’d be lazy.

Have tried this build at lvl 55 and something was defiantly missing, it’s just not punching as a hard as my Arc Chain lighting build. I’m guessing lack of paragon points and gear but I love Hydras so I’m gonna revisit it for sure.

That’s the thing with Hydra burn. It doesn’t do that much damage against mobs at your level, but going much above your level, they still do the same relative damage to the mob hp, hence they are good for NM100 clearing.
