Maxroll build / paragon links are on both youtube video descriptions. Blizzard forums won’t let me link to maxroll.
INTRO
Hydra is one of the strongest sorcerer specs in the game right now and here’s why you should try it:
- Low/no gear requirements
- Since hydra damage scales with enemy levels, hydra can do high amounts of damage
in high NM dungeon with little to no gear
- Since hydra damage scales with enemy levels, hydra can do high amounts of damage
- Only a few required aspects
- +1 hydra is really the only required aspect as it effectively doubles your DPS
- Push high NM content early
The build is incredibly flexible and you can customize it based on your levels, gear and playstyle.
Now with every build there are weaknesses and the major downside of playing conjuration is that lower-level nightmare dungeons (NM60s and below) take longer to do since hydra burn damage scales with enemy levels. It is particularly time consuming when you are boosting people as the mob HP gets doubled or tripled but your damage stays the same. That being said, clear times are not THAT bad, especially if you make some small tweaks to your build i.e. adding frozen orb as an enchant to help with the lower dungeon clear speeds.
SKILLS, PARAGON & EQUIPMENT
I specifically built the skill tree and paragon boards to be as tanky as possible. I don’t get one shot by non-telegraphed attacks other than off screen corpse bows when I don’t have any barriers up.
Active Skill Bar
- Teleport – Unstoppable, mobility, positioning, this spell does it all. If I had extra skill points to spare, I’d max this out.
- Fire Shield – Invincibility on a relatively short CD
- Lightning Spear – Crowd Control / stuns the whole room with aspect of shared misery
- Frost Nova – Vulnerable + CC
- Ice Blades – Lowers CDs of other skills / extremely high lucky hit chance rate and almost guaranteed to proc frost nova from enchantment
- Hydra – Main damage dealer, spam cast hydras for extra dps as the hydras attack on each cast
Synergies
- While I think Exploiters Aspect is amazing in this build (+20% CC time / x40% dmg vs unstoppable monsters), I think Penitent Greaves is BIS when combined with my paragon board. Penitent Greaves has a unique ability to chill and adds x10% dmg vs chilled targets. I specced my paragon for a whooping 42% DR vs chilled. Combined with aspect of shared misery, the whole room gets chilled and I get a massive DR boost
Enchantments * Currently running Fireball / Frost Nova HOWEVER this spot is extremely flexible and I have ran Frozen Orb / Ice Blades in the past
