Confront the beast: not balanced

I’m easily making my way through the game on Expert mode and was level 27 when I did my class quest, but this Beast boss battle was insanely tough compared to any other content.

Even after a number of attempts getting better at the fight, I kept running out of potions on the third spirit challenge, even though the game so far has been mostly a cakewalk on this difficulty.

It seems like this boss fight could either use slightly more potion drops, or a reduction in damage output from mobs/boss given the length of time you have to survive.

Edit: I changed to Normal difficulty and that was easy (as expected) but still, seems odd that this boss would be so much more difficult than other content.

It might be bugged. I successfully did it on hard mode, but when the “spirits” changed my skills to all one type, I don’t think I was doing any damage (or I was doing so little damage that the mobs’ health bars barely moved). I was forced to run around in a circle and kite until the game decided to give me my normal abilities back. Made the entire encounter way harder than it would have been had Blizzard simply let me keep my skills.

The “spirit skills” allow you to knock the boss out of his invuln phase. You just need to hit him once with those skills and he’ll be damageable again, and your skills will revert to normal.

Right, yeah that tripped me up at the start too, but on the right of the screen the quest log shows you have to hit the boss with that skill.

I’m more concerned with having to fight 4 waves of monsters plus a very aggressive boss plus dodging 2-shot whirlwinds (from eagles) with just ~15 potions in total.

Anyhow, there’s a workaround so it’s not critical, but I think there’s some improvement opportunities here

I managed to complete it on hard after 6 attempts. What a hard fight. Granted I was level 17 and hadn’t upgraded my potions at all the entire game so thats probably why. I think it’s fine.

What build are you using? I didn’t have much trouble with that boss. Even with running around like an idiot wondering why my bars changed.

Hell, I did the fight half asleep. At one point I actually fell asleep in my chair and woke up a minute later to find I had somehow wandered out of the boss room and had to start the fight over.

Mostly Jaguar skills, as I found the aspect that a spirit jaguar mimics my Rake attacks.

Updated the post, as I was playing on Expert (I had forgotten what the difficulty names were since they changed Veteran to Hard)

It was fine for me…but for a job quest that I have to redo every season, its too long.
