I see most theory crafters insisting that the meta will be grabbing 7 Glyph nodes. This means that not only are the Legendary nodes ignored but the majority of Rare nodes that do not lie within the Glyph nodes range (outlined box) are also ignored unless they lie right along the routing path. All of this is because it is believed that the Glyph nodes can be leveled up many times to improve stats to a point that is more impactful than any of the Rares or Legendaries can. I kind of hope this is not the case because, if it is, then the majority of the Paragon board is meaningless and almost everyone will run the exact same Paragon board for each class, not matter what the build, because it is the most efficient use of the Glyph nodes.
This kind of goes against Blizzards stated goal to allow you to play your own way and stating their systems will foster a great deal of diversity in build types, even in the same classes. If there is a cookie cutter approach to the Paragon boards that proves to be the most efficient approach, no matter what the build, then that is going to severely limit character diversity.
Iâm not really focusing on any content discussing builds and paragon boards. This sot of stuff doesnât give me much value. I have to experience things to fully take them in and understand them. Watching someone talk about numbers doesnât really register with me.
5 Seems optimal in the ones I did(starter +4). 6 was stretching it in 1 build. Past 5, you pretty much run out of âgoodâ glyphs, and you also cant take enough rares to boost your base damage.
Also. Once you build a couple builds, you;; quickly realize âplay your wayâ is an out of season april fools joke. As you pretty much are stuck putting most boards in a certain order. I do end up skipping most legendary nodes, they just arent worth the travel cost in 90% of cases. There are rare nodes like hunter killer/Focus that is better then most legendary nodes lol. Those nodes should be orange!
A couple of things here. One, Glyphs can be leveled. To some extent, End Game Closed Beta know how much this is going to cost as well as whether or not it is âreasonableâ. However, this only matters if you are going heavy into End Game content. Two, we already know that Blizzard does not really care about âplay your wayâ, build diversity based upon one item. Some final bosses are CC immune. This means that you have two choices, donât use CC at all (by the way, chill is CC) or you have more than 7 skills as you must switch out builds when you come upon a boss.
Just report that guy for self advertising and block him, which he does on these forums constantly, and is absolutely a low end player. He tried to âshow how OP his build was for ashavaâ and died on the boss while struggling to clear in time. Actually wild. Itâs like dying to a lvl 10 lost ark boss.
Then after saying something like this, he will go through your forum history and comment on every post youâve ever commented on.
Ahh the dude thatâs been harassing me for a week now. What a surprise.
You have nothing good to add to any conversation and had a thread dedicated to complaining about âhoW ShaLlOw dIabLo 4âs bUIlDs aREâ because you didnât know the Paragon system existed.
i mean if the planners have the glyphs and node req right i think its start + 3 boards, 7 sounds insane.
edit: after looking at a mock up 7 board version it might actually be close. Might come down to are you able to benefit from both rare nodes near the glyph or 1/0. the base stats on more boards seem to be a good 33% or so higher. Theres so many stats to account for its headache inducing. incase you want it too! i removed a couple blue nodes on the higher boards to compensate for not reaching the bonus, not exactly but kind of close.

Legendary Nodes
1: After spending 75 Spirit, you deal x30% increased damage for 5 seconds.
2: While in Werebear form, you deal x1% increased damage, up to x50%, for every 1% difference in current Life percent between you and the enemy. (wondered is this only when you have low health and them high or also you high them low?)
3: node on both
To begin somewhere: Almost all legendary powers in the Paragon boards are trash tier an the rare glyphs are godlike. Why should you ever move 20 fields to reach a node that gives you about 15% more dmg when you can use a glyph that offers more while you need far less steps to get there?
There are boards that are awesome for certain builds like taking the bleed paragon boards for a bleed barb or zerk paragon boards for a 100% zerking uptime barb. Still there are some very good magic and rare nodes to pick up but the right glyph in the right place is far stronger then making detours for legendary aspects.
It seems like the theorycrafters started far to late with their testing and they slept on the CBT becaue even while the paragon boards are realy nice to toy arround with the legendary nodes in them are crap.
I think 5 boards to reach the breakepoints needed for the extra stats on the glyphs will be the way to go. On top of this there will be mathematicly best boards for the examples I made above like if you play a bleed barb and take this 5 boards and move this way and if you donât do this you gimp yourself and youâll always have worse numbers then bleed barbs using the mathematicly best way.
Isometric Hack and Slash games always had a meta and never cared that much to keep all possible builds near togheter when it comes to the powerlevel of the skills.
