Concept/request of what I expect leaderboards to be

So first thing is first… your leaderboard tab should open up a leaderboard window showing yourself and your friends (it is important for the initial exposure to be directly related to the person viewing this)

You will see yourself and if you are above/below people on your friends list.

Next tab should be “global” leaderboards, being leaderboards of EVERYONE… you will see the highest ranked player. This should be decided by a point system

Highest Pit level cleared

Highest Infernal Hordes Aether collection

Highest NMDs completed in 20Min time window(so lets say highest ranked player has 6 of these completed)

This will build up 3 pillars for Diablo 4 PVE all with different types of “builds” needed.

Pit is a build that needs the most survivability against the hardest enemies, it should feel like crawling through mud and then getting up and having to fight a massive enemy

Infernal Hordes is focused on room exploding, your ability to create a build that can kill a MASSIVE amount of enemies quickly

NMDs will be focused on speed, (This will only make sense after NMD rework) but I think the way they should work is you are able to ignite a sigil doing this does was a sigil already does but starts a 20-30min timer(25 might be the sweet spot) You go into a NMDs pick a bane/boon like Rootholds…you clear the dungeon and it opens a portal for the new dungeon. This rework also fits with the Butcher… you are in this NMD trying to GO GO GO GO GO, the Butcher is the perfect enemy to chase you down (even more crazy if you can get a roothold to summon multiple butchers or a new type) the reward is depending on how much NMDs you completed (it might be easier for each run to give you X amount of a resource so “half” completed runs are still rewarding you. The reward being simply more mats, and guranteed reroll scrolls after you can complete a certain threshold of NMDs in the time window.

butcher also needs to scale with your last highest pit level completed

_))))))))((((((((()))))))))))))(((((((())))))

Back to the leaderboards.

Friend leaderboard

Global leaderboard

CLASS leaderboards(for each class)

ability to order the leaderboards by the 3 activites and by total “score”

So the rank 1 player could be pit 140 infernal ashe 2000 and NMDs completed 8

you can see the rank 2 player has a PIT 145, Ashe 1400 and NMDS compelted 7… so this player knows to get above the other player they are already ahead in pit cleared but need to create a build to do Infenral hordes and NMDS better.

EDIT: someone on reddit suggested changing NMDs to a strict 5 dungeons, so you know which dungeons you’re doing and will know what objectives you need to do rewarding game knowledge.

This would also look good on a leaderboard you’d see the fastest player somehow did 5 dungeons in 9 minutes

Tldr, leaderboards will just be filled with:

  1. Credit card warriors
  2. Bots
  3. Basement dwellers

Id honestly rather see them spend resources actually balancing the game.

how exactly do i credit card to be rank 1…? buying the best items? you still have to play the game and do the mechanics needed.

bots…? so you think these bots we see that literally move and die all the time at world bosses are going to be at the top of leaderboards… you cant be fr

S8 patch notes added to balance.
The big outliers got a hewvy reign in without being made outright useless.

EQ Barb lost a heavy multiplier
BW Necro lost damage on the ability, Aspect, and Kessime’s.
No more Cataclysm snapshotting, and the ability got a nerf
Rogue got… something nerf. Didn’t play Rogue.

Other abilities got buffed. Ice Shards seems like 100+ contender now.

There’s no content that isn’t “resources that could’ve been spent on balance”, including expansions. The dichotomy is false. Colin & his team can bury their noses in class/skill/item interactions that contribute to imbalance, and a UI/UX team can work on prototype leaderboard concepts - as bizarre as this studio’s inscrutable “methods” might be, they have this basic labor concept figured out.

Seems you want to believe that leaderboards are such a good idea you fail to see the obvious. CC warriors pay the bots and basement dwellers to get them there. They don’t even have to play the game.

Even D3 with FAR fewer RMT issues (fewer, not none) the leaderboards are full of bots and CC warriors. It is common to see a new character with 800 hours played with the season being 805 hours old.

Leaderboards are not a list of skillful players with the best gear and build. In a perfect world it would be, but we don’t exist in one.

Just do solo mode. Problem solved. The best will be the best.

Yeah i don’t think anything on group should be put on leaderboards at all.

In games like league of legends or overwatch leaderboards aren’t about which player can get 3 other people to play with them. It’s solo focused. They can have a clan leaderboard with highest points and which players ran those runs

This argument could be made for any game in existence… but the fact is it doesn’t happen.

I can go look up the top 10 players in league and overwatch and those players are actually good. The person with a bought account and 41 loss streak is extremely rare.

Expecting blizzard to fix the solution of some whale offerings 5k for his account isn’t blizzard job. Thats a reality issue not a diablo issue

We’re coming up on 2 years of D4 being out, and the only leaderboard I’ve seen is for the gauntlet. What makes you think they will add any other leaderboards?

but hey the’re “listening to our feedback” and “we though about it” and “we’re looking at it” so …

The road map says they will

Fortunately the road map said leaderboards were not until 2026. Who knows if they’ll ever get to them.

I always rank leaderboards as the lowest “want” on their surveys, below even “new pets shaped like body parts.”

I don’t care who has the biggest credit limit to buy their way to the top. Just let me play.

Lol 3 years from release to add leaderboards? What’s even the point? D4 development will be canceled before then.

It would make me play the season to 300 paragon personally so i could compete with other solo players.

If leaderboards are just going to be Elon musk paying 3 people to hard carry him to the highest pit level then i won’t care.

They need to be solo
They need to cover multiple pillars of end game (pit,Infenral Hordes and NMDs)

It’s just so weird to take 3 years to implement such a basic feature. They could probably bang them out in a month if they really wanted to.

How exactly does botting do anything in a game with limited paragon? I can see other issues considering you can pay cash for most things but botting really isn’t an issue

Are the groups mutually exclusive or can I be 1 & 3? :hamster:

Yeah i don’t really understand their logic either.

I can’t name a single game that’s leaderboards is infested with bots or RMT users. These people are just self coping

https://www.forbes.com/councils/forbestechcouncil/2025/04/22/how-ai-threatens-to-take-the-fun-out-of-gaming-and-how-to-stop-it/

According to the Echelon survey, 71% of gamers say these “bots are ruining multiplayer competition,” and nearly 1 in 5 gamers (18%) say they’ve “stopped playing a game entirely” in response to the sudden swell of AI opponents. If a game is rigged, why even play at all?

There are plenty of games where this is an issue, including previous games in the Diablo franchise.

I guess I’ve play exclusively only competitive games and never see any bots or is my experience ever effected by them.

The only game i know where bots are a huge pressence is streamer servers on world of Warcraft.

As for the competitive games i play. League, Valorant, marvel rivals, overwatch, siege, supervive and etc there’s no bots at all… maybe at the bottom like bronze 5 they exist but i don’t see them where I’m playing
