Computer Restart while playing

Hello,
Since 2-3 weeks ago my computer is restarting randomly while playing Diablo 4. Sometimes in game, sometimes in menu. Initially I thought there is a power issue but recently with more investigation I have found that this happens only in Diablo.
I repeat , not just game crashes like most of other players but full computer restart.

My spec: GPU RTX 3070, CPU 12700KF, cooler Noctua NH D15, MOBO GIGABYTE Z690 UD DDR4, RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 32GB DDR4 3600MHz CL18 Dual Channel Kit, power : Thermaltake Smart SE 630W, 80 PLUS Gold

I have tried to go on low resolution game settings, lower the hz of the monitor or even trying low graphic settings. Nothing helped. Temperatures are always under 60 celsius degrees

EDIT: all drivers including bios is updated

Anyone else is having these issues?

Thank you

to start narrowing it down:

Windows key > Event Viewer
Left Panel > Windows Logs > System

Scroll down the list and look for anything that is red listed as Error or Critical.

They are time stamped so you can trace back what had an issue before the full crash/reboot

Thank you X7ekken.

Are there others further down that are Critical and have a reboot or shutdown message? You need to see the red ones that happened before the Critical reboot.

Yes, sorry , found them under.
Critical#3: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
Error#4:The description for Event ID 56 from source Application Popup cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

ACPI
2

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

Error#5: The previous system shutdown at 6:48:01 PM on ‎7/‎2/‎2023 was unexpected.strong text

I don’t think that’s the one. Any others that are errors that happened before the Critical shutdown?

Right under critical there are few messages marked with Information.

Only these errors are within those 2-3 minutes. The rest of log is from 2-3 h before that

Ok, so I found 3 posts that have similar issues not related to diablo, but with Gigabyte MB’s having C-States enabled and Windows log error with ACPI.

You’ll have to read through this info as it is a minor change in your bios that could be crashing your system due to a power loading option.

((Reddit - Dive into anything))

just as a follow up and to clarify…

I know there are a lot of posts claiming this game is making our graphics cards work pretty hard which would in turn have them pull more power.

that part combined with what appears to be a power related crash is what got me to look back at your PC specs you listed. thanks for posting your hardware btw.

hopefully this stops the crashing for you.

also, one last question… what brand is your 3070?

Aprozar, did anything i posted up there make a difference / were you able to try anything? specifically the c-states / power loading bios stuff that was described in the 2nd post of that reddit thread?

Hi man, so far two days without any shut down. But I did not have the opportunity to play as much. I am keeping this thread bookmarked and will post at the end of the week with update on it. Thank you a lot

I had the same issue which ended with my computer not coming on at all. Turns out my power supply blew out and my PC started working once I replaced it. After playing for a while, my screen would go black and I would have to restart. Everything started working once I replaced the thermal paste on my GPU.

I hate to say it, but check your hardware. This game seems to overheat hardware.

hey, it happened again this morning. Opened the game for 1 minute , opened shop and it restarted.

The last weeks I played only world of warcraft and it never happened (LFR, pvp, mythic+) also computer was open almost each day for about 5-6h and no random restart.

Is something wrong with the compatability of Samsung 980 Pro and diablo 4 or bcos diablo 4 cannot be installed in the Windows drive?

I had random bluescreen when i installed diablo 4 in the Windows drive on my Samsung 980 Pro. After I reinstalled windows and change my game folder to my 2nd drive Samsung 970 evo, it’s working again.

Update: Been playing since season released and I have no more issues. I guess Blizzard launched a fix wich helped with this situation

is there something that is a issue that i had put in the system

I also had the system returned and benched by Origin PC. their findings where the computer had no issues.

I also unistalled and re-installed d4, and i still am having this issue.
