Companion wolf damage?

My wolves are lvl 15/5
I have +3 wolves to pants turns them into lighting unique, +4 to wolves helm, +3 all companion skills ammy.
My gear has 31.5% , 31.5% , 26.2% extra companion damage
I have +15% damage on my chest
I have 100% wolf damage legendary turning them into wear wolves on a ring
I have 30% companion damage and + 1 companions on neck
I have my wilds glyph at 148.1% more companion skill damage and 80% more passive skill damage.
I have the keeper glyph for 10% more non physical damage for companions (which the wolves now do with the storm legs)

In total I do
87.5% more damage to poisoned enemies ( which my wolves and creeper poison)
40.1% more damage in human form
124.4% damage to slowed targets (which my poisons slow)
105% damage vs crowd controlled ( which triggers from the slow)
237.4% more companion damage
195.7% ALL damage

and a base weapon damage of 2604 with an 807+25 staff that rolled well

My wolves are hitting for about 5-7 thousand with all the modifiers lol…
The tool tip alone says 18-22k a hit

I dont even want to get started on how the vine creeper says the passive damage is 70k over 6 seconds but im seeing it hit for 440 for every half second for 12 ticks. The ravens are just as bad 21-25k in the tool tip and hit for 1400

Im able to clear all of T4 at this point but the nightmare dungeons are just going to become undoable soon. Keep in mind majority of my damage comes from vine creeper AOE and my Sheppard’s staff to buff core damage based on how many companions I have.

The tooltips can be misleading. These are base amounts which most extra damage is added or multiplied onto after. Also, if you’re often facing mobs many levels higher than you, you’ll notice comparatively smaller numbers.

I have not run into the same troubles as you with my companion druid alt. Whenever I press the activation on my minion abilities it does good damage, especially when they crit against vulnerable targets that are immobilized/poisoned/etc. It’s not meta tornado stormwolf druid that annihilates world bosses solo damage, but it’s pretty decent damage. Decent enough to farm things like 15 levels above at a leisurely pace.

You mentioned a ton of sources of additive damage but didn’t mention any of your multiplicative damage, or if you even have crit or vuln in your build, or if you have any multiplicative damage from paragon tree or skills, so it’s hard to say if you should be hitting more or not. Also, you mentioned using a 2 hander. 1 handers attack faster and thus result in more crits per second and thus results in way more cooldown resets on your companions (from the boon).

You also have to keep in mind that if you buff your core skills with the aforementioned aspect, then obviously you’re shifting at least some of your damage from your companions to your character. This hybrid approach is perfectly fine (as you say you clear t4 just fine), but obviously you’re going to do less damage with each individual part than if you were to just focus on core skills or just focus on companions.

Though it’s not important for my point I wanted to add that my alt has been in T4 since level 58 and is currently 67. Since saying “companion druid alt” may make it sound like it is lower level and that I have a skewed view to contribute. I do indeed speak too from a T4 point of view is the clarification I’m making.

I’ve noticed this as well; my Wolves appear to only do about 25% of the tooltip’s listed damage, and my Ravens do less than normal as well. There’s a comment in the patch notes that Aspect of the Stampede and Call of the Wild weren’t applying their damage properly to wolves, but there appears to be something else affecting Druid pets in general.

Also, the tooltip for Wolves appears to scale with Physical damage for some reason. I’m not sure if that’s intended, but figured I’d mention it since Druid builds tend not to use it.

Fenris around here has uncovered that the passive damage for companions is being double hit with the skill multiplier. So if wolf says they do 11% damage in their passive tooltip, that 11% applies again to any additional damage bonuses (willpower, damage buckets, etc) with the only exception being “+companion damage” bonuses and the “x% passive companion damage” from the wilds glyph. it severely limits the utility of the passive effects of these companions and makes the tooltip basically a complete lie, since the tooltip doesn’t include this second multiplication.

You should comment on this bug: Druid damage passive companion modifiers, or tooltip, are bugged - #16 by Fenris-1870
