Question: what qualifies as a companion for sorcs? Only thing that comes to mind is seasonal powers like s3 maybe?
The way I understand it is they are the Conjurations ie. Hydra, Iceblade and Lightning Spear.

Because they are incapable of clearly defining anything in this game. Consider for a moment their needlessly confusing and inconsistent usage of the word “cast”.

Oh i do. It causes me pain.
That said, attack speed just became way more lucrative for conjure builds.
Not sure on crit chance; always assumed this was 1:1, so was happy with 50%, but def been wrong on assumptions for this games stats.
